Overlay not working in Apex

Despite In game overlay being enabled globally and in the game tab  the game complains that it  is disabled when trying to view profile. Trying to bring the overlay up does nothing either (Shift+F1)...

    If you have MSI afterburner on your computer, check if NVIDIA Shadowplay that is blocking or RivaTuner.
    RivaTuner was the problem for me

I have this problem too. Discord overlay is disabled (I never use it for any game) and the overlay is enabled in origin for global and Apex itself. I have tried to disable it and enable it again but still won't work in game.
