why doesn't block player actually block player?

last week i was playing with someone who was very toxic and called me sexist names so i blocked their EA account on my ps5.  and yet i was match with them again twice in the same evening

now i just noticed that i my teammate who was afk was already blocked.

what is the point of blocking a player if you keep getting them as a teammate? i would like an answer from EA please

  • @huyness6 Sadly, it only blocks players from being able to send you friend requests as well as keeping them muted in-game. Other than that, there's no point in blocking.

Another problem with blocking players is that the more you block, the more issues you'll have as the game would start to lag and stutter more. I don't know why it does that, other than the game having a hard time loading the list of blocked players. Its very noticeable after 100 blocked players and the game becomes nearly unplayable, (at least for me), when you block more then 200 players.

In other words, instead of blocking just set your friend request setting to auto deny and set the voice/text chat to "friends only" or "no one", because if you're blocking anyone to achieve any of the following, it won't work:

    - To no longer get them as a teammate
    - To not have them on any of the enemy teams
    - To stop them from joining if they're friends with one of your friends
