Thats after the Beta and EaPlay early access where people could try before they buy. Thats after all the ins and outs on the game were known to the public.

I can't imagine an article like that exists (Unless some gaming "journalist" just made up a random number to put in their article)

That is exactly what I suspected myself, this sounds at best a comment made by some "in the know person" from twatter or some such social media platform. Why would EA shoot themselves in the foot? It makes zero sense.
So to surmise you have zero evidence to back up your claim. I feel the reason you won't link this fabled article is that it exists exclusively in your head.

You don't add them up lol.
If 100% of steam users refunded the game, and there were 5% refunds on each of the other platforms that wouldn't mean there had been 120% refunds.
With all the current issues plaguing the game that is somewhat impressive
