7.62 Minigun on Land vehicles needs a buff
It’s instantly outclassed by the .50 cal and 40MM GL for anti infantry, and compared to TOWs, missiles, and cannons like the 30 and 50mm it’s no competition which to choose for light vehicles or to chip away on heavy vehicles.
Some of the main issues I see with the Minigun are:
Bullet Deviation/ bloom makes it hard to hit a target consecutively and make a difference in engagements ranges that you’d think the minigun would at least work decent with practice, such as up to 50-80m
Bullet velocity also makes it a challenge to accurately track targets to finish them off, while other options would finish the job with less issue on leading shots or Damage per shot.
(The DPS of the minigun is actually pretty decent assuming you can hit most of the bullets, somewhat faster than the .50 cal on infantry, light vehicles like LATVs and Hovercrafts, and okay on Aircraft, so I wouldn’t really change that, but maybe on aircraft as it would be ideal to help defend against Nightbirds strafes or chip damage on heavier choppers)
So some of the main changes I’d think that would fit the minigun to be more in line with the other options are:
Improve the spread of the minigun to be more tighter or closer to the reticle
Improve the velocity of the minigun bullets to help with tracking moving targets
There are other tweaks that can supplement the above changes (Preferably 1 out of the following) such as:
Spin up time reduced
Damage towards light vehicles/ Aircraft increased
Time before overheat/ Cool down time reduced.
(I don't know the numerical values for each change but if I did I'd try to give specifics and compare between equivalent weapons on vehicles.)
I found that Aircraft Miniguns on Transport choppers and the Nightbird are somewhat more effective and don't have much issue compared to the land vehicle minigun, either due to slight changes or being mounted on vehicles with ability to travel in the air.
