I don't know Planetside 2 at all so I looked up a comparison article with Battlefield 2042 maps between older/ different titles. Compared to COD Warzone I can get a feel for how big they are, still they don't seem that big to me.
I'm 100% guessing, but the only conclusion I can come up with is Battlefield 2042 won't feature cross-play, at launch at least. I came up with that because of how they're talking about bots for a game that hasn't even been released, why?
I'm glad the game will feature bots for the people who want it, but being it's a paid game, I would like features that are in my interest, Bots are not one of them.
I honestly find it more enjoyable knowing that each and every ingame character I come in contact with is a real person. It's one of the core parts of the online multiplayer sandbox. You shoot someone, they die and come back for you.
This cat & mouse game is part of Battlefield. I have a hard time believing the bots will feature that, plus just automatically giving away peoples positions just by shooting at everything willy-nilly.
If the game features cross-play, I'll feel better about bots, but I still think the paid user should have a say so if they want them or not.
I paid for this game so i demand that every single game mode from previous Battlefields is included, also every single map has to be there because i paid for it. If not well...refund! not playing! that will teach them a lesson!
In all seriousness.. you don't even own the game. You obtained a license to play it, nothing more. Also does that mean that i can only play against 63 bots? that would be pretty disappointing.

We will probably find that there will not be much AI in games at launch, as there will be sufficient players online. As time passes and new games come out the player base will naturally reduce and AI become more prevalent. Also handy for the nighthawks that decide a game at three in the morning would be a good idea.
- @Popa2caps I think it will have cross play between Xbox and PS. PC? Probably not. I think a PC player will be able to invite a PS or Xbox friend into their game, like Apex does, but that's about it. Console players aren't all that interested in playing with PC players, mostly due to the rampant hacking and cheating on PC.
Planetside 2 continents are a LOT bigger than Warzone. So it could be an extreme example. They are basically 8km x 8km. But they also can accommodate thousands of players. 128 players is a medium sized skirmish in Planetside 2.
Still I could see a round of Plunder on Warzone being pretty boring if say you only had 30-40 players.
But then Conquest is going to spread the action out across the BF2042 maps a lot more than Warzone. That will thin the action out significantly if you only have a half full server. - @Rusty Rat Good points. At launch so many will be playing this that you likely won't get into a match with AI for a while. Not unless you are in a low population region playing the game.

They are taking a huge risk on being able to produce decent 'human' like AI bots. The problems theyll have is players will know they are up against AI bots so if one does something dumb, like a human player can sometimes do, we'll just blame the AI as being rubbish. We have all lost a firefight we should have won and won ones we should have lost against other humans, but if we suddenly start losing gunfights against AI that should have been won people will cry foul about AI cheating or conversely AI being rubbish. Whereas against human players we know we were just out fought (and thought), or were just plain rubbish on that occasion.
This news make me sad and worried. Bots in multiplayer isn't Battlefield, I won't be going near this game if it has bots. This game is already looking poor, such bad decisions already..
- @ninjapenquinuk DICE already had experience with this in Battlefront 2. If anything, my experience in Battlefront 2 says that AI Bots will be much better at playing the objective than your average BF player. You won't see them camping or farming kills from a distance.
If AI bots are in the game, prepare to be in a legit fight for the capture points. And yes, within the first week people were complaining about getting head shot by AI bots lol!!! - OskooI_0075 years agoSeasoned Ace
@ninjapenquinuk Don't worry, DICE won't make the bots hard to beat. The last thing DICE wants is bots kicking the crap out of their human customers and scaring them away from the game. If that happens who's DICE going to sell their live service merchandise to, the bots? 😉
The bots will be super easy to beat and super boring to play against. - @OskooI_007 They weren't in Battlefront 2. People were complaining and they didn't change them because the whole co-op mode was based around them.
But again, this will be a non-issue for most people. Most join full severs or near full, and there will be plenty of that when this game launches and in the months after. It could be months before you ever actually see a bot in game lol
