A Small Game Hidden in a Big Title
I really love battlefield, and this game still brings the feeling of a massive space full of warring soldiers. But it seems more and more like this is a smaller game than was shown to us, just being covered up by useless parts. Many of the guns feel exactly the same, many of the attachments dont seem to do anything (or literally have the same stats as 1-2 other attachments in the same slot, so just cosmetic?). There are so few guns, and maps in general. While portal is cool... it seems more and more like it was introduced because there isn't enough content in the base game and they are trying to offload the work to the community to make up for what is lacking.
A lot of the small issues like bloom or hit registration etc, will be fixed im sure but overall it feels more and more like we are all being sold a small game with the facade of a sprawling battlefield title.
Its already been said to death but Im also pretty disappointed with the operator direction. Choices such as weapon variety, and specific faction soldiers always helps to subconsciously tell a story even in multiplayer. Russians fighting over oil fields, Marines holding the line as all your friends die around you trying to hold a position. Its subtle but its there, and the fact that the operators are all the same, yet are supposed to be specific pulls me out of the story which dice really seemed to put effort into. Its not a huge critique on paper but it definitely hurts my experience more than I expected.
I really hope Im wrong, and I will keep playing for a bit to see if maybe im just missing something, but it feels like I am going to lose interest fairly quickly and will just go back to literally any other BF game, BF1, BFV, BF4.
