In my experience aim assist switches off when there is smoke around - even when I can still make out a siloutte. Any controller user who played Op underground in BFV can probably attest to the fact that aim assist isn't handing out any blind kills through smoke.
Smoke behavior seems similar in BF2042, but will pay more attention next time I'm in that situation.

I think everyone will agree that how it was in bfv doesn't matter since they seem to handle inputs/aim assits differently in this game

I don't know about that. Aim assist currently feels pretty close to what we had in BFV and BF1. That observation seems to be supported by the DICE Dev comments from SMK's video.
How much BF1/BFV did you play on console? You seem to be taking the position that BF2042 aim assist is significantly better than what we had in BFV. What are you basing that position on?
