All BF2042 maps ranked worst to best
With Stadium we have received our final map in Battlefield 2042, so time to close the books and make a ranking of all these maps. My opinion is based on the 64 player Conquest as this is what I play most, but feel free to share your ranking from your own perspective. I will only cover the true 2042 maps so no Classic maps.
Starting with worst and ending with the best map:
15. Haven; poor design that promotes spawn trapping, also vehicles and choice of vehicles are out of place on this map. Also promotes camping in buildings. I skip when this starts loading
14. Hourglass; even after the rework it feels like a huge disconnected map, E/F/G flags are completely disconnected from the rest of the map and vice versa
13. Stadium; unbalanced poorly designed map. US side has a clear advantage in map layout by the way spawn points and out of bounds are designed. Meatgrinder but not a fun one
12. Breakaway; another map with huge disconnect, between the drilling platform and the rest of the map
11. Kaleidoscope; again huge disconnect, on this map all sectors have 0 coherence. And what's up with that tunnel on the waterfront being out of bounds?
10. Discarded; I like this map better in its 128 player layout, should have kept that layout for 64 players.
09. Renewal; that wall again creates a disconnect and unbalance. One side has only 1 sector on their side of the wall (A) whereas the other side has 2 (C and D) with B being the divider.
08. Exposure; this map needs a rework. Aircraft spawns result in instant lock on by Wildcats and infantry camping in either spawn. Too often i find myself staying at the B objectives
07. Manifest; a map that hugely favors specialists like Mackay and Sundance, also the hill with B objective has too many bushes for people to camp in
06. Reclaimed; a bit too small for my taste, but other than that relatively ok
05. Stranded; interesting mix of vehicle and infantry combat
04. Spearhead; I hated this map in 128 player mode, but as a 64 player map it is a decent map providing for both vehicular gameplay as well as infantry only if you go to E and C objectives
03. Flashpoint; nice map, layout is OK, and I like the different routes with ziplines, stairs and tunnels which infantry can take in the C/D/E area
02. Redacted; another meatgrinder but this one is a fun one. It can never take top spot in my Battlefield ranking as the lack of vehicles does not make it a true Battlefield map
01. Orbital; my favourite map, nice balance between vehicle and infantry play. I also like the levolution event with the rocket that either lifts off or explodes creating different scenario's
This is my verdict, feel free to agree or disagree.
With that being said, the overall quality of the Battlefield 2042 maps clearly lacks in comparison with previous titles. If asked in a future Battlefield title to get a remastered version of an older title, none of these would come to my mind. Also the overall mix of maps lacks a few good franchise staples like a good urban map (no Haven is not it!), a nice forrest/jungle map and a proper naval warfare map.
Looking forward to your views!
