I'm kinda starting to feel like they know they've blown it so bad with BF2042 that it's probably never going to be a win for them and that now we're in a year-long test/diagnostic/research loop for BF7?Especially with the recent surveys sent out by EA it's like they are trying to just feel out the player base because they can't figure out why BF2042 fell flat on it's mug.

While I agree that BF2042 will never be a "win". I don't believe that DICE/EA is capable from learning from their mistakes when it comes to developing future BF titles. They learned nothing from BFV when they made BF2042. The problems were even worse this time. They continue to remove key features of Battlefield with every iteration and ignore the customer complaints.

@Adamonic I believe your correct on this. They decided to do the legal requirements aka seasons 1-4 and move on after that. That’s why season one is bare and I’m only assuming the rest will be the same.

Well, I hope the big takeaway from all of this is that the specialist's system of free-for-all loadouts and superhero abilities may not be the right move for a Battlefield experience. I know some people like the chaotic, non-linear experience that it has and that's fine, but I really believe the inability to balance the gameplay properly is due to the randomness that the specialists have introduced. Some have pointed to the bad map design and 128 players count as the issue, but I believe that 128 players could absolutely work with a defined class system as for the maps, yes that is definitely a point of contention.I also hope they take a hard look at the vehicle call in system, the obvious flaws were exposed immediately upon release (vehicles getting called in on rooftops e.g.) but it also made fighting for control points seem more lackluster. Tanks, Armored AA, Helos and other assets spawning at certain control points in prior versions of Battlefield titles made those control points more valuable to take and hold than any of the control points now. Consequently, now once a control point is capped nearly the entire team rushes like lemmings to the next control point since there is no incentive to hold any control points in the game.And last but definitely not least is the lack of a server browser and persistent servers, players want the ability to pick servers based on region, ping, stability and have the ability to favorite servers we like so we don't need to look for them again. This would make it much easier for Clans and Platoons to support any future Battlefield title. The randomness and long, LONG load times as well as the inability to control any of other determining factors to getting into a match (see above) makes matchmaking seem like a total downgrade from prior Battlefield titles, to sum it up, matchmaking is a horrible idea for Battlefield. Leave the Quick-match option for those that like it but for the rest of us please bring back the server browsers and persistent servers.Appreciate all the feedback fellas!

They tore up a winning formula and the current player count shows what the BF community feels about that decision.

We could well be entering a test / diagnostic / research loop for the next year, time will tell I suppose.

Oh they’re learning. They’re learning how to squeeze as much money out of the players as they can.

@Ironhead841 I'm very sure they know they've blast this game to oblivion, but ignore is better then admit. So sending out serveys to let us see they listen to us, is just a way to keep us busy. It's good fo us to vent, but it end up in the recycle bin. They already have a roadmap for themself for making more. Unfinished games..i'ts very simple...what was is no more.

Exactly. It's 99% of why these forums are here. To placate the vocal players. Also allows them to contain the critcism in EA controlled forums which they can prevent the search engines from indexing.

The game will never be considered a success which is unfortunate BUT we are still allowed to have fun with it and I'm interested enough to see where it goes.

@Sc0tch_Whiskey absolutely, just looking at the content and how hollow Season 1 was. You can tell they took the original Season 1 and broke it into 4 drops. 90% of the Season 1 content was fluff.

You can also look at the communication and patching. They were very active weekly with communication and patching. They said they would be back after the holiday and we never saw them again.

@Ironhead841 Rather than use the forums as the feedback tool it could be, it’s easy to separate the wheat from the chaff if they were interested, I think that they’ll be doing the bare minimum to keep the doors open, and it’ll run down the clock until the door closes. Unlike 4, this one won’t be having servers still running down the line. The other responders above raise excellent points.
