I'm practically in a constant state of being spotted now so I don't really see a point
- ElliotLH2 years agoHero+@IIIWhiteWolfIII I don't use them myself as I like making noise. They have an affect on how you appear on the minimap and, if I remember rightly, don't show directional damage indicators, so do have benefits.
- IIIWhiteWolfIII2 years agoNew Ace@ElliotLH I usually use a sniper, and there are snipers on the other side as well. They quickly scan the map with thermal optics like I do. Whether the suppressor is attached or not, it only reduces damage and slows down the weapon.
- ElliotLH2 years agoHero+@IIIWhiteWolfIII I forgot you mainly use snipers - I was thinking about ARs and SMGs when I replied, my bad. Yeah, if you're sniping they might not be worthwhile as the only benefit would be the target not being told where the damage is coming from. A headshot kill or quick follow up kind of negates that.

I use the map ALL the time.

Why would I or anyone else attach this suppressor when we see these drawbacks? I don't know, but it doesn't seem logical to me.
It looks nicer and sounds better, but that's about it
@IIIWhiteWolfIIIFor snipers there’s no point in using suppressors as your position is already given away by the scopeglint of those sights you use.
On some weapons and some maps suppressors can be useful. I ran the VHX with heavy suppressor and subsonic ammo on Redacted and that worked quite well. But @TTZ_Dipsy is right there are so many orher means of getting spotted that staying hidden is almost impossible

@IIIWhiteWolfIIIIt can be hard to see an advantage as it's situational, but it can make a massive difference. Subsonic + heavy suppressor almost removes muzzle flash and completely removes tracers, which are 2 things that greatly give you away. Basically a moving line pointing to where you are, and a flashing light at your location. They say tigers (or was it bears?) see movement, but I think all animals are simply more perceptive to changes in color, including humans.
Removing those can be a game changer in the right circumstances. If you flank a large group of people, lack of tracers is the difference between the group shooting at you after ~2 kills, and you never getting shot at. Even smaller groups of people, let's say 2, I've had situations where with regular ammo shooting at a person who saw me, the 2nd would join in, but with subsonic+suppressed, the 2nd would have no idea what's happening and I'd get to fight them 1 by 1.
If you're in a nonstandard location, you're not very exposed, and you're not moving, when shooting at someone with subsonic+suppressed they might not see you right away.
If you're not playing to those strengths however and are going down some corridor or chokepoint, it will be only worse due to its simply lower damage.
I'd also advise you consider subsonic on sniper rifles very carefully. Playing with a scope that doesn't glint and with subsonic can make you extremely hard to spot, but I believe the XCE with a heavy suppressor and subsonic reaches damage falloff so harsh you will no longer be able to 1 shot headshot a full HP player beyond something like 200m. - CPU_UK2 years agoSeasoned Ace
It use to be that suppressor didn't kick as hard, but the trade off was range damage- think muzzle brake but with penalty.
With 2042 who knows, DICE did a great job of hiding all the really useful information from us.
- ATFGunr2 years agoLegend@IIIWhiteWolfIII The fabric wrapped suppressor (forget name oops) is one I put on every weapon I can. It reduces noise to only 40M map, and claims to have no reduction in damage, maybe a 1 or 2 for range. Worth it for the reduced minimap profile IMO.
