If you find it all a little too hectic I'd suggest picking the NTW-50 sniper rifle and setting up about 100 to 150 metres away from a contested spot next to some cover so you don't stick out like a sore thumb. Use trees, rocks, bushes etc to merge in.
You will avoid being caught up in the close quarters fast paced shooting and get yourself some kills which will help build your confidence.
The NTW-50 is a one shot kill up to 100 metres so you don't have to worry about having to land 4 or 5 shots to get a kill.

This is not a bad way to play. Using Casper in a green area gives you more cover, plus, you can have a drone in the area spotting.

- The game will frustrate you. Lots of things to learn. You will get shot and die and you will say, HOW DID HE SEE ME! There are also lots of bugs.
- No better experience then playing. AI will teach you about the gun, but there is no better teacher then live play
- Know your Specialist. You will get your favorites. I am trying to T1 all of them. That being said my faves are Lis and Casper. You will also learn some are more advantageous then others. There is a utility item called a med pen. If you play Falck, that is your special ability so its like a bonus utility item. Sundance is great in open areas with her nades, Paik and Rao have radar and are incredibly useful in buildings. See Rule 1
- Teamwork > Solo. The game is based on teamwork. That being said, 90% of your team won't give a rats rear about you. If you're playing support/heal, be prepared to revive and die. See Rule 1
- KD or Win? K/D is your Kill to death ratio. Epeen players use this as a gauge to see whose Epeen is bigger. They don't care about winning, they only care who killed the most and died the least. Typically, they don't really forward the game to a win. That being said, they will expect you to revive them, running off leaving you if you get shot. Their game is most important to them. You don't factor into the equation. They are in every game and are the ones who post in chat how everyone else is trash. It is the nature of the game. See Rule 1
- Deployment. You can change your specialist and loadouts at each deployment. The battle inside and you're on Casper and die. Redeploy as Paik.
- Play with friends. Whether you make them in game or know people, playing in a group with some sort of coms (Discord) will increase the fun, and your survivability. Play solo, die solo.
- Air>Armor>Infantry. I personally have most fun as infantry. That being said, Air has the greatest advantage in the game, with armor being second. There is a Rock/Paper/Scissors (RPS) format to this game, but the scale tips in many ways. Teamwork is what balances this scale. Unfortunately, you may be the only one shooting at the pilots. See rule 1.
- Piloting. If you're choosing to play air or armor, the number 1 skill to survival is moving. It is highly attractive to sit in one spot raining down unlimited ammo on poor defenseless infantry, racking up those kills. Just remember. AIR is not an acronym for Always Indestructible Reaper. Hovering in one spot, or if you're in armor, parking in one spot will make you easier to kill. The less you move, the easier you are to target
- Message Boards. If you're reading this, you found the boards. 90% of the posts whine about something being OP and needing nerfed, while others want it buffed. Over time, you will catch on which posts are accurate, and which are whining for EZMode.
- Glint. Scopes over a power a 4 give off a white circle glint. This is a sniper usually. Lis when she has her rocket equipped and the SOFLAM give if a circular red glint. When you see glints, they are in a limited view and are easy to kill. (this was added later as an edit)
IMHO, this is one of the best FPS games around, even with all the bugs and issues. What I like is you don't lose your load outs on death like in battle royals. You work on a weapon, optimize it and you spawn with it. Upon death, you don't have to wait for a new game. Lots of maps, lots of replay value. All this being said, the most important rule is to have fun. If it isn't fun, move on. It just isn't worth the frustration otherwise.
