That may not stop the ppl who can't take the bad with the good, but I can see some type of penalty being imposed.....the only problem is with ppl that may get disconnected, through no fault of their own, will get penalized too.
- carsono3114 years agoSeasoned Ace@SANDM4N_1979 There is no real point to adding a punishment. The stats from the game will stay with the player and auto-balancer will kick-in if the population gets out of whack.
If there was a comp mode then sure, there should be consequences for leaving early but for regular play, people shouldn't have to be forced to play when they don't want to.
I'd rather see a feature that could end a game early when it is obviously won. Like Conquest Assault Lines from 2142.

They could just add an end of round bonus or something. Any penalty wouldn't really effect those who quit mid round for real life reasons or the odd disconnect, as over hundreds of rounds these should be few and far between. Most of the ones who will vociferously argue against a quit stat or any kind of penalty are indeed those people who quit to keep their win/loss inflated.

Some might say that if someone cares enough about their W/L ratio to quit before taking a loss, then life has punished them enough already /jk
I'm in agreement with the others that a punishment would be fine for comp, but wouldn't want to see it added otherwise.
Wait? So it doesn't keep tracking the match whether it's a victory or loss after you leave it? I thought that was at least the case with Battlelog titles that it will afterwards count as either win or loss. I mean those Battlelog reports will pop up afterwards if you leave prematurely and there's your performance data.

@Teal_Pipo_FredoIt does. I think there has been a long-standing myth about this.
If you participate in a match (read: shooting / interacting) you will take the win / loss and any stats you accrue while in it. - @ElliotLH W/L ratio matters when trying to join a high end Clan for competitive gaming, I got reject twice few years back cuz gaming stats were not impressive and yes even W/L ratio. Top Clans wants to know how serious you are.

The punishment was the "Quits" stats in the battlelog details.
Otherwise you can only offer rewards for completing the round. Like extra xp, or ingame store currency. But this only works until these rewards don't matter anyomore.

If a sizable chunk of the losing team leaves as they are losing horribly that effects the gameplay negatively for both teams. For the losing side the loss becomes worse because their team no longer has the players to cap points and their score potential decreases as a result. In some examples they are pushed back to their base and are spawn killed and that provides a very negative experience for them. For the attacking team they no longer have an enemy team pushing them as hard for points or as many targets to shoot at which is also not a desirable outcome either - also effecting their score at the end of the game.
I've always been of the opinion if someone commits to playing a match they have an unspoken commitment to their team to finish the game. Obviously they can leave but I think a suitable punishment for that as OP put it would be to negate any XP gained in said match. This would disincentivize quitters and would keep teams more 'balanced' until the match ended.
