I don't mind saying there are reasons I'll quit a server. I left two just yesterday playing BF1 both on Suez, the first our tanker was in spawn in an Arty truck which is usually a quick leave for me. The second the first 3 squads were about 11/15 recons, without even spawning I looked at the map and my team were stuck at the gimme flag after about 150 tickets, I didn't fire a bullet on that server. Give me the loss, give me 10 losses, I'm confident those games would've been closer to torture than the entertainment I'm looking for.

I quit matches all the time. Constantly.
If my team’s getting steamrolled, why on Earth should I waste 10-15 minutes being frustrated when I can just quit and find a new, fun server to play on.
It’s not my fault that team balancing in Battlefield is a joke.

I can fully understand your situation, I can clearly say nearly everyone will have experienced this situation aswell. Specially in Battlefield 1 but also in Battlefield V.
There are several possibilities to clear the problem but a "penalty" or a "punishment" isn't the right way, and also if I remember correctly you gain a lose for leaving a match on your stats (please correct me if I am wrong).
1. One solution could be to implement a rework on conquest mode like Call of Duty Modern Warfare on their Ground War Mode did with the "DEFCON Countdown". This means as soon a team has all "flags" (in BF2042 all sectors) there should start a Countdown (1 minute or something like that) where the team has to capture at least 1 flag to show they are at least trying to capture and hold a point. This would give the losing team the preasure at least to try to capture a point and hold and if not well you don't have to play 20 minutes where the entire team is "outnumbered" or "camping" or doing "battlefield moments". For the winning team it would also be a favour because this rounds are often relaxing but also very boring. The next round/match should then entirely be new mixed or filled up. But this solution would be only for "Objective" based modes. ☹️
2. Another solution could be to investigate and gather intel why people actually leaving the lobby? What are they feared for? Is this because it's a waste of time? It's because they are afraid of their "K/D" (Kill/death ratio)? Or it's because the kids/wife/husband is calling for breakfast/lunch/dinner? Because you joined a lobby in a middle of a match and you don't want to play with these people who aren't able to out manouver the enemy team and at least try to capture another point because nearly everyone is trying their "challenge" or is "new" or just unable because the enemy team is to strong? Because you as player just completed your challenge doesn't want to play the entire round/match because you don't like the game mode? With that "knowledge" DICE should at least able to implement some sort of motivation system or karma system but this could probably also abused very easily.
3. Instead of also punish people why not the opposite effect... for a streak of not leaving matchs (except for disconnect errors (3 disconnect errors in a row should detect as suspisous), CE-Error (gameplay error's that crash your game) and leaving a round at the beginning of the round while the countdown is still running) should a player reward with extra progress on their "Battlepass" or something like that. This will loyalty players a nice gift for their efforts to get over with the "bad" rounds.
There are to many scenarious for leaving a match... so a punishment system would make nearly only sense on a "ranked" mode.

I don't think it counts your game stats for incomplete games in BFV... half of the time I've played the game has literally been wasted because of quitting, but to be honest, a good many of those quits were because a cheater was in the game.
Who cares? it is not like there is any rank upgrade or reward for winning matches in this series. In a game like Splatoon that actually has a ranked area where wins and losses affect rank status. I can accept quit and disconnection penalties and also think that they are necessary punishments for that area of the game. In Battlefield where a conquest match can last 18 to 25 minutes and the entire experience can be ruined by teammates that seem to not even be trying to do anything to win. Why should anyone be punished for not wanting to sit through this crap?
- @SANDM4N_1979 Im more annoyed by the fact that people leaving means that the matchmaking will put someone else who had no part in the loss in the game on the losing team.
Its so damn annoying getting put in a match where you can already hear the "round is nearly over" music playing as soon as you load in - GrizzGolf4 years agoSeasoned Ace
Who cares about a W/:L ratio. All about that K/D
- @Its_Travis_199 Does anyone actually care about a quit% stat though?
With all the connection issues we have had, I would be surprised if most people didn't already have a much higher quit% than in previous battlefield games.
I would never quit because off an incoming loss. It's just a game and I really don't care that much tbh, but I have lost connection to the servers a bunch of times, or had to quit matches because the rubberbanding before the patch made it impossible to play.
Im just not going to stay in a match that has rubberbanding to the point where I get pulled back 5 feet for every 10 feet i run. - UP_Jaskaman4 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
Leaving match early still gives you a lost (ragequit), so it has no meaning but you just make other ppl suffer more by leaving. So whatever you do, W/L ratio stays same.
Top clans should not care about this anyway, because you can't always affect to that. But yes should give added bonus for the guys who stayed at the server to the end.
- @ElliotLH Is there anywhere to see the W/L or K/D stats?
