BF2042 has become unplayable at this point

How do people even stand to play this game anymore?

I'll tell ya.

Go hacks or go home, thats how.

Feel like pushing a point with your squad? Too bad, there's a wall hacker sitting around the corner with an LMG.

Trying to flank and pressure the enemy in a different location? Too bad, the bolt action sniper with aimbot hits you with every shot from halfway across the map.

OOH! CQB MAP! Too bad there was an aimbotter with no recoil what-so-ever in the match who ended with 50-1.

I want to love this game. I really do. Great mechanics, great graphics, and I really enjoy the variety the different class operators offer to the BF series with their unique gadgets and such. And the maps are gorgeous. As a profession photographer by trade, I appreciate the extra little details they put into the game to make it look so good. Too bad every match is ruined by hackers. And please, don't insult the rest of us by saying that you've been playing since the game released and never seen a hacker. You're either one of the guilty parties being accused and ruining what could otherwise be a wonderful game, or you're just choosing to be ignorant on purpose. It's gotten bad enough, you can tell the difference between getting killed by a hacker, and getting killed by a legit player. I've put in the hours. I've grinded the weapons I like. I've read the guides and learned how to play each class how it should be played, and which weapons suit each operator the best. Don't tell me get good. I am as good as I am going to get while still playing legit. I'm not the problem. The game isn't the problem. The community is. If you're reading this and one of those players that are ruining the game for everyone else by using a hack, shame on you. Do better. Be better. Otherwise, may you have the day you so rightly deserve for ruining an otherwise amazing game.

And yes, I've reported hackers, even providing video evidence, for all the good it did. I'm pretty sure whoever wields the banhammer for this game at EA has never even played this game before.

Sadly, it's not just BF2042 either. All of the BF titles are just absolutely rampant with hackers. Warzone and COD aren't much better. I have friends who won't even touch these games anymore because of how abysmal the hacking has become. It's funny to watch new FPS titles release and people play the crap out of them for a couple of months, and then the interest dies off. Part of that has to do with them being something new and entertaining, but it is interesting to see how the linear progression of the increase in complaints of hackers goes up, the interest in the game dies off at the same rate. Funny coincidence, don't you think?

The even sadder part is that hackers aren't just ruining this community, but the FPS community as a whole. People are sick of it. Eventually, we are going to find a point where the only people playing FPS games anymore are the hackers. This is what this game genre has become; Lobbies infested with hackers that the devs completely ignore because they stream and advertise their game for them for free. Meanwhile, they ignore the majority of the community screaming for harsher regulation and punishment for hackers, all in the hopes that they might be able to enjoy their favorite game once again.

Now... BRB, I need to uninstall until EA gets these hackers under control, or until the hackers in this community can pull their heads out of their rear ends.

Which, neither is going to happen, which probably makes this goodbye for good.

Thank you for all the memories BF series. It was fun until it wasn't.

    Whelp. I haven't played for about 2 or 3 months now (since I completed the last battlepass), but at least up til then (since launch, and hundreds of hours played), I had never seen what is commonly referred to as a "rage hacker" where they are just head shotting everyone on the field almost immediately, or flying around seemingly with noclip, etc. I saw those in previous BF games (at least in BF1 and prior, didn't play much V [or much 1 honestly].

    Could also be the region you play in? I 100% believe those that live in Europe or Asia-Pacific are hit way harder than in the US by this. I am in the Midwest/US so I imagine paired with East cost folks and I just haven't seen it. At least not in an obvious fashion that it generally would be. I've been playing online FPS now for about 25 years, am well aware of hackers going back to early TFC/counter-strike/quake/etc [and through some CoD and plenty of BF since 1942].

  • Nah, and you won't see rage hackers.  Not at more at least.  Most rage hackers don't care about hiding that they're hacking.  My guess is they have a pirated copy of the game and don't care about losing it, but that's just speculation.  Nowadays, they are careful about hiding it, masking it even to the point where your casual Joe wouldn't know the difference between aimbot and aim assist.  Instead of headshotting you outright, they do a couple body shots with a sniper rifle, even though you're zigging and zagging in a full sprint that only a lucky shot could nail you with, let alone two back to back shots from a bolt action.  Or they sit around a corner and wait for you to come around and pop out, gun up before they come around the corner and then defend their hacking accusation by saying they could see you on the mini-map.  Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking aim assist.  I 100% agree aim assist should be a thing for consoles for obvious reasons.  I am US ETZ, east coast US, but my work schedule puts me online about the same time as Aussie/China/Russian TZ's.

    @NavyRigger05 I wonder if the last part could be part of it? Maybe they are VPNing into east-US time zones during that time frame?

    I will say the corner part isn't that unbelievable, given the footstep sounds (I do that all the time), or frankly, how everyone is basically spotted the whole game via either Q-spotting, TUGs, pokeballs, Blasco's sensor thing, vehicle spotting, and of course anything non-suppressed shooting lighting you up as well.

    I won't disagree that there are hackers, you see videos posted here and reddit and such, I just haven't (fortunately) ran into maybe more than a couple players that made me second guess. Versus blaming issues on lag compensation, netcode, aim-assist, or the numerous spotting methods. I would regularly play with a couple guys that were just ridiculously good at shooters and when we're in a full squad together we'd almost always be top-4 on the boards with kills/caps/assists/revives/etc and because of the revives and repairing of vehicles (for example) our death count would be in the low-single digits, and occasionally 0.

    @NavyRigger05

    If  few rage hackers upset you, how would this post look if you knew the actual number.

    @Anobix

    America and Europe are actually the cheat provider's biggest market, and there is little difference between an Asian who can rage from an internet cafe and Americans or Europeans who pay for their cheats.

    Claiming that cheaters are few, just because you haven't seen many.

    Is a bit of the same as claiming, Sony doesn't sell consoles, because I haven't seen many people around me use them. Then, it doesn't matter how big a track record you have in gaming. Because the sales figures speak against you.

  • It's never really been about the rage hackers. Everyone knows who they are. It's the moderately and even highly-skilled players that carefully cheat to get an edge.

    It's getting rough. I'm pretty confident EA's AC teams know who many of them are. Not all cheat providers are careful and EAAC has hooks into everything. But it isn't in EA's financial interest to be proactive. Instead they wait for report thresholds and flag it.

    Time for a banwave EA. Even if it means the cheat providers send the botnets after you for a few days and you have to eat the increased cost with your ddos mitigation provider.

    This is the same vicious cycle that all the previous titles go through. As it nears sunset, the playerbase gradually gets more infested, many clean players slowly leave out of frustration and then ultimately EA nearly abandons anti-cheat efforts on the title and then a new one is released.

  • I play the game 5 days a week since its release. In all that time, I have seen maybe 5 hackers + some suspicious players, but to be honest, none of them are as horrible as no-life heli pilots with 80-0 KD.

    I play in Europe, if that is important.

    BF 2042 has many problems, but hackers is definitely not one of them.

    Sorry you feel you got to go, yes there are cheaters people that seem to know where everyone is and no it's not because of being spotted all the time. That said I play north America west coast and don't run into them all the time.

    They are ruining FPS's.

  • @NavyRigger05 I have seen 2 ragehackers, though they were gunners for my CAV Brawler. Most likely since gunning in ground transports means you're hard to kill, the guns have almost no spread despite the crosshair and leading projectiles is not impossible to implement for a hack. The first time I was confused, the second time I caught on I decided to give up and drive into whatever enemy tank I found.

    That being said, if you're standing still, it's INCREDIBLY easy to headshot you, no hacks needed.

    @Lady_One indeed. As many have pointed out, in this game one is in a near-constant state of being spotted: it adds to the feeling of “x is a cheat.” On ‘BFV’ it was/is easier to tell as there were no gadgets nor abilities that made this the case.
    Always be moving seems to be the antidote to not being awkwardly and bizarrely shot.
  • 2042 is THE WORST game of the franchise. Wait until anti cheat comes to BFV in April.
