I've performed the fix above to exclude the file type extension, but serious quesiton.. why is it so difficult to update this? This should just be a path variable update in code. This dumps all of the responsibility of managing an issue that the customer never created in the first place on the customer, and against Microsoft's recommendations to NOT use the Documents folder as a caching or heavy read/write location because of these sync issues, and also has a cost implication on the customer's OneDrive storage usage (Should I be billing EA to be using my cache as temp storage?).
The exclusion in OneDrive for the file extension did not resolve the issue. Upon launching the game again and loading into a map, it was still pulling those files to sync. The only way I can circumvent this issue is by completely pausing OneDrive sync for X amount of time and for up to 24 hours. When trying to delete the hundreds (maybe thousands that haven't quite populated yet) in OneDrive, it's failing to remove the cache files, either saying it can't find them or they're just not being deleted at all. Some of these files go back to earlier this year. I know the issue with deleting them is probably a SharePoint/OneDrive back-end issue in M365, but would have been a non-issue had this not been caching in Documents to begin with. Again, I know mistakes are made, code isn't perfect and you can't test for literally every single issue... but this has been an open issue since 2021...

Unfortunately excluding the .PcDx12 extention is no longer working.
I found this to be working: Deselect the "Documents\Battlefield 2042\Cache' folder from the Onedrive app.
- Start the onedrive app, and goto "Settings"
- Select the Tab "Account"
- Select the "Select Folders" button.
- De-select the option "make all files available"
- Select all folders except "Documents"
- Unfold the "documents" folder with the ">" button
- Manually select all folders except the "Battlefield 2042" folder
- Unfold the "Battlefield 2042" folder with the ">" button
- Manually select all folders except the "Cache" folder
- Press "OK"
And you're done...

Onedrive does not allow deselecting the Battlefield 2042 Cache folder. It will throw the following error:
"Can't stop syncing folder. The folder you tried to unselect is in the Windows Documents folder, which is an important folder in Windows and is currently pointed to OneDrive."- iTails2 years agoSeasoned Rookie
Yep, also the same issue.

For those of you who still have problems following @Speedie1000 advice and get the error "Can't stop syncing folder..." do the following:
- Select the Tab "Sync and backup" (the first on the left)
- In the right column, in section "Backup important PC folders to OneDrive" click on "Manage backup" button
- Switch OFF the button on the right side of the "Documents". Because that's the cause of the "Can't stop syncing folder..." error.
