Not sure if this is an issue on PC, but on consoles the option is turned ''Off" by default. There has been an influx of new players and many people don't know that the option exists or even needs to be turned on (including some of my friends).As console players, voice chat is typically turned on by default for console multiplayer games that support the feature. The onboarding of new players is being made more difficult by many of them unknowingly playing without comms. There's also an entire platform base that is getting 2042 for free this month (PS5), so it would be helpful to at least put a blip on the main menu, in the "news" section.

its literally the easiest thing in the world to hit the mute button. Why stifle the many possible relationships that could form from people having mikes on because u couldn't be inconvenienced for 5 seconds to click the mute button.

I don't usually wear a headset or I'm in a party, but I'm quite happy with voice chat being off by default. I've heard enough arguing, munching, and general weirdness in the past from randoms.

Same here.
It's usually some kid playing while chewing something as domestic affairs are sorted out (in a wide variety of languages) in the background.

I will chat away when I feel like it, but response is usually, well, absent.

I feel that all the chatters and the social types seek out like minded players, form platoons/friend groups and use private VoiP.
The remainder of VoiP users typically offer a sometimes entertaining, sometimes concerning and oftentimes annoying look into their personal lives.

@DPsx7 Not everyone who turns on voice chat will actually be using a mic, as demonstrated by many other multiplayer titles that have VC on by default.

The main issue is that when voice chat is set to "off" you can't hear your teammates. So those of us on console that do use voice chat in-game for coordination (& dont have the ringing phones, pets, TV's, or heavy breathing) can't help/guide new players or remind new players that they need to ptfo, revive, etc.

@BirkelandPSN 100% agree, This would be nice, the people who actually have a mic when I play on PC we tend to do well, something different and better game overall, sadly most players don't use comms.

When I do get those players the game is more fun and we can actually do teamwork and keep each other alive.

@BirkelandPSNNO, like Dispy said - i have had to mute countless players because we hear TV's in the background, feedback of the game itself, background conversations including very "personal" things like who's girl just got pleasured ( in a very more adult like context ), people talking about calling their tax person, hell, i had someone repeat a damn PHONE NUMBER over VoIP! Even heard a child get disciplined and then screaming crying........ things that absolutely do not need to be sent over a game VoIP, because people are to careless to properly configure their mics and setups.

NO! Off by DEFAULT and force them to configure them properly.

then with PC, VoIP half * works ! it will turn itself off, stop responding or otherwise just not work for 1 or more rounds, then randomly turn itself back on!

How do you screw up VoIP to the point it barely works properly, WHEN setup properly.
