Compiling ideas for Battlefield 2042 let's make a great game
How rooms are designed in detail really changes the combat feel. objects that a player takes cover behind that end up breaking apart changes strategy, objects that you can shoot through changes strategy and even the look and feel of the enviroment changes strategy and is a distraction. The lights on a KFC sign or music playing from a jukebox or umbrellas around a dining area are all distractions that will require in-heightened sense of awareness requiring the player to pay attention. ( images above) Over the PA system inside the stadium could be some sort of announcement from the Invaders or defenders. This announcement can be a distraction while people are trying to fight (Video above)
I think the map HourGlass needs a little adjustment; at least for breakthrough.
At the beginning of the map of Hourglass it would be nice to see some sort of facility similar to Metro in BF 4 but instead of a train station maybe a hyperloop station or something ( futuristic ). Maybe some sort of transportation facility that's connected with the stadium that is under construction that over time ends up getting finished and is no longer under construction.. Also connected to the transportation area is the parking lot. The parking area could use a little a bit more detail with the design and maybe complexity. Maybe the parking area fight could be changes to a 2 story indoor parking garage that bleeds out into the outdoor parking area. Charging stations indoors that when shot or broken give you that jolt of electricity. A Bright Clean new parking garage. Allowing the lights on the ceiling to be broken making the parking garage dark. (Image above)
HourGlass might be better if the fight started inside parts of the stadium bleeding into the new transportation facility that then bleeds out into the indoor / outdoor parking lot bridge area.
Something to take advantage of while fighting inside the stadium and transport facility is breakable structures. Put in a lot of glass, shop signs, ticket booths, food stands and others shops filled with memorabilia such as stuffed animals that fill the air with fabric as bullets hit them. Certain aspects of Battlefield are missing such as the whole experience of having objects and "things" breaking and shattering around you. Inside the stadium and transportation facility should be walls that can be broken open that change the battle flow. You can break open a wall inside the burger shop leading into the other shop. Creating a pathway.
Some people like playing indoors some people like playing Outdoors. This way you could mix them together. This why people that like indoor combat get their flavor and people that like outdoor combat get their flavor.
Not sure what to do about this city area . Once the map reaches the city area it's a little bit of a stand still and the design of the city area is a bit plain and boring.......the design of the city area I think it's just a disaster and again these areas are lacking elements of what Battlefield is known for which is breakable "stuff". The first tower or the first two towers leading into the city should be a destructible feature changing the environment of the battle. Maybe opening the first two or three floors of the towers might be interesting or create to much camping.
Why not add a gas station that goes boom at some point because of bullets and explosions? It's fun playing in the city environment but there's nothing in the open spaces giving the surrounding area character. Not to mention the inside of these facilities are lacking details... there's no or very little detail in most of office rooms and buildings. The buildings in the Old Village outside of the city are empty and they don't have tables, beds, sinks, kitchens, bathrooms...There are no objects inside of these buildings.
I was also hoping to see the commander come back with interesting Support options for deploying locations or FOB and things that go BOOM.
Adding futuristic weapons
I read DICE is also looking to introduce support for in-game voice chat. This would be great. An in-game proximity chat would really help people engage and work together.
placing weapons around maps like in BF V. The flamethrower was on a weapons crate
a wider range of call in support options for Squad leaders such as mortar barrage , smoke barrage, airstrikes, artillery and anything that goes boom.
More Maps
I think the TTK needs a slight adjustment or an increase in magazine sizes. Not sure why but it seems to take entire mags to kill people unless it's an issue of rubber banding/performance. SMG's have a ridiculous range while assault rifles have a poor mid to medium long rang impact. Assuming it's performance issue.
- more vehicles and Airplane types. Battlefield 5 had bombers I don't understand why Battlefield 2042 does not.
- adding a day and night cycle as well as allowing for lights to be broken darkening areas.
- increase in grenade type and the amount a player can carry.
- increase by one secondary Gadget
- character movement seems to be a bit fast
- I don't think the game needs a decrease in vehicles if anything it needs an increase but there needs to be a balance of AT weapons damage. AT and AA the amount allowed on the field.
- new age AT and AA emplacements around the map. Battlefield 5 you could pull or tow around emplacements.
- attached a photo of futuristic weapons and obviously the capabilities need to be tested and calibrated. creative weapons design functionality and capability
I've been trying to be positive proactive but this game really lacks substance and it's kind of sad. I did notice in some office building environments there's at least a table...but if you google "what does an office look like?" The office spaces in BF 2042 don't even come close to looking or feeling like an office. There are here there computers and a plant but the inside details of buildings are plain.
So instead of being toxic I'm trying to be positive and helpful. Criticism is how "things" improve it's a matter of how you criticize or your tone.
I hope there's time to make a few changes to some of these Maps especially in terms of detail and battle flow. I'm hoping at least into the future new maps include some of these details such as an office that has an office look not an empty room
- There's barely "anything" that goes boom in this game. Where's the massive bombing strikes or artillery strikes? Where are all the cool Kick-* support call in elements from BF commander ?
- I don't really care so much about the classes as much as other people do but I do care more about how the game feels when playing it...the smoothness as well as a TTK that provides a strategic thought provoking game play experience. I mean right now in Battlefield 2042 SMGs seem to insta kill people across longer then mid range distances. While assault rifles can barely kill anything at the same ranges
- Hoping large structure demolishing is a part of some of these maps. I don't remember the map from Battlefield 4 but you could break open the dam and it floods the area changing the combat experience and required an adjustment in strategy.
I think weapon and gear placement around the maps could widen the range of options for players. Sometimes you need an extra rocket or maybe some sort of AT grenade, ammo because team mates don't pay attention. Having gear that you can't normally equip placed around the map just widens the strategy. A crate that has a red smoke grenade in it that gives you the option to call in a vehicle or something something unique and strong changing the tide of the battle. Before you throw the red smoke grenade you pick from a set of support options red smoke marks the spot. Artillery and mortar strikes can also be attached to the red smoke Clearly the cooldown times would have to be adjusted based on testing.
- I think to make Conquest more lively you can mix a variety of modes into the Conquest mode or increase player count and make Hazard Zone a little bit more complex. There's other objectives types you could add to the Conquest mode. Objectives such as destroying objects, infrastructure, vehicles etc... Could add the hazard zone concept to conquest giving you something else to do that draws the teams into a fight. I only ever play Rush or breakthrough because Conquest is just to much dead open space and I don't like running around getting shot in the back. There's always somebody hiding off away from the fight and its just annoying. There's not much skill required hiding on a bridge while snipping at people that are in the middle of fighting. At least with breakthrough and rush the fighting is more straightforward. I mean how certain modes play is all really a matter of how good your team is. I pretty much stopped playing conquests as of Battlefield Bad Company and never looked back. I just think a rethinking of objective-type will bring some life to Conquest. I don't mean add one objective-type to replace another. keep the original concept of cap points while also adding into the battlefield objectives to destroy, disable, hack, steal.
- Part of the argument for a player increase count was because the maps were too big to begin with now they're just bigger and not enough players again. the extra player count allows for the creation of front lines. So that way you basically have two halves of a team on either side of the map trying to control it. Which basically keeps the fighting in your face. To get around these front lines that's the purpose of the LAVs or helicopters. So your team can set up FOBs for deploying or flanks.
- LAV needs to be added back because it helped deploy the team at strategic locations. I'm not sure why something as basic as that was taken out. Given that the game is a little bit into the future you should be able to deploy the LAV so it opens into an FOB . Forward Bass. That way you don't have to have anyone sit in it. The driver has to pick a location drive up hit the deploy option and then he can get out and join the rest of everybody else fighting. You could even have some sort of an animation that when you open or deploy the LAV a crate falls out of the back so people can change their gear so forth so on. get ammo. I don't remember what that new aircraft is called but even that could have a deploy option when it lands that drops a crate and allows a forward base operations function. Also while providing other perks.... You could have another part of the airplane that provides some sort of call in support options like bombing runs, smoke barrage, mortar artillery barrages and or strikes and extra vehicles. All this obviously has a lengthy cooldown time. So you have your standard vehicle count plus extra vehicles and support options from these FOBs. Who can call in these extra vehicles and support options and how many is what needs to be tested. if only certain players can use all these functions that leaves out everybody else. Another section of the aircraft is providing ammo and health and maybe dropped a crate providing a unique weapon. I don't know if having a performance-based crediting system would be necessary or wanted in a Battlefield game. meaning based on your play performance much like in Call of Duty you have a killstreak that unlocks abilities that you use but but instead of killstreaks maybe BF could have a credit currency which fits the whole mercenary concept. you essentially use that credit currency to use support call in options. but I still think the random crate with a red smoke grenade is wanted so that way people can find it and use a support option for free regardless of their performance.
