Console friendly hardcore

I've been playing the Xbox one version since BETA version but recently upgraded to Xbox S. I only play hardcore so I set up a server in portal. It took a while to dial in the settings to replicate the way it used to be in BF3, fair for everyone vehicles and infantry. I don't see many console players in the servers I've played on so far, probably because PC players will dominate. I've re-named my server and trying to get it going on on this version is difficult because nobody will join to find out. It was called HAPPY HARDCORE on xbox 1 and was popular with regular messages saying I'd found the sweet spot in the settings. All I'm asking is for the people to come and try it so we can all play on a level playing field. Thanks for listening, the name is CONSOLE FRIENDLY HARDCORE. See you on the Battlefield.

@turtlebeached You can run a custom server using the standard game mode templates.
If you want to create something new, you need to use the rules editor.
You’d be surprised what you can do with the rules editor. Not just adding code to make the games more interesting, but you can make entirely new game modes.

  • @turtlebeached Good to hear you’re taking time to make your own servers. Not enough people take the time to do it, which is a shame because you can really get the game feeling as it should.
    I’m on PS5.
I run my own servers too.
There isn’t a great deal you can do to “advertise” your servers.
But what I would suggest is to keep running your servers. It may take some time, but slowly your server will get noticed and remembered by players that like them.
Then you’ll slowly notice regulars that enter the servers, and it should start gathering pace.

I started my own servers purely for my own use, and then the above started happening.
Now I have a good following of regulars who have also become friends.

    I have cross play off.
I hage no interest in putting any additional strain on the servers (they are already incredibly unreliable as it is - regular crashes).
I prefer having just other PS5 players in the server.
You could put cross play on to attract more people, but that’s up to you. I’m not keen on that.
Your servers will get less “exposure” with cross play off, but I do think you’ll have a better experience
  • @creepnpeep Thanks for the heads up about crashes but I'll keep cross play on for now to get it going. The server filled up rapidly after it reached double figures on XBox1 version, same settings for over a year and they'll never change. Instant vehicle and soldier spawn ( no waiting to get back to the fight ) No 1 shot kill, vehicles that are realistically balanced and fast soldier movement. use any gadget. Friendly fire off. Unlimited magazines. It's fast and furious!! If you had cross play on I could check yours out.

@turtlebeached Yo. Sounds like you prefer a different kind of server to me, which is all good - that’s the beauty of portal. You can make the servers how you want.

    Mine are abit more hardcore.
I have servers for all game modes.
I have even made some new ones.
Like “Trust No One”, where you have to kill enemy and recruit them. If you are killed, you join the other team. It keeps going like that until one team has all the players.

I would turn cross play on, but I don’t want PC players.
If dice did console only cross play, I’d turn it on, but they don’t.
  • @creepnpeep I haven't investigated other game mode options yet. I'm an old school battlefield player, playing since Bad company 2. I only play battlefield and conquest is my preferred mode. Though if they made a Capture the flag as it was in BF3 I'd be on it like a rash.
