Last time I played on my Xbox One S, I couldn’t hit anyone past point blank range with the M5A3. My aim is usually decent in other games, including past Battlefield titles, but it feels really off in 2042, and it’s almost impossible to hit moving targets on controller too. It feels like my reticle actively resists my input to correct it and I end up shooting just to the sides of my enemy.
- ElliotLH4 years agoHero+@iraqi553 I quite often struggle too but just put it down to me being a bit rubbish. Been fiddling with my setting and that's helped a bit recently, but I still quite often shoot to the side of enemies.
- @XD-DAWG11It's good to know I'm not the only one having this problem, this game is broken.
Prior to 0.41 the aim assist was the worst I'd ever experienced.
0.41 brought it up to par with BFV or at least within 95% of what we had in BFV.
But it seems we've regressed again a bit with 1.0. I feel like the new animations may have something to do with it. Aim assist is very inconsistent when trying to line up a shot on someone going through an animation (jumping, ADAD strafing, crouching/proning). The animation speed seems faster than the aim assist speed. Aim assist feels like it's getting confused and shutting off - or worse 'tracking' when not aligned to the target player model.
It seems to me that the current aim assist is not programmed to snap at the enemy, but rather slow the aim speed when it approaches a target (indeed that is what is written in the game's text menu). This, however, leads to poor tracking as it makes it more difficult to properly put your crosshair onto your target. I often find myself shooting at the sides of the enemy rather than onto them. There are rare cases where I can feel the aim assist actually assisting me, specially when i get lucky enough to aim precisely on the target. I've been complaining about this since launch (Sorry), but they need to amp this up, or just include KBM support. The game is just frustrating at this point.
@iraqi553I play on PS5 and have no issues with hitting a tracking enemy. I find it's best to put your reticle on the enemy before zooming in. Then zoom in and it will stay on the target
- @NeoHesper Aim assist is supposed to slow the aim when the crosshair on the target, but it doesn't work like this in this game, it looks like there is a magnet bubble around the target that drag your crosshair to the side.
Stick aiming could definitely be improved a bit in 2042 but its by far not the worst of any FPS ive played. I have mine quite decent finally and probably average about 1.5 K/D on Crossplay for PS5 (give or take on the weapon im using). Its definitely not to BFV standards but its better than what it was at launch.
But hell, a game with much worse aiming was Deathloop which had very janky aiming and players abused "snap" aim assist to accommodate the iffy aim controls. And honestly, I hate snap aim assist as its the most abusive of all aim bots--nothing like instant snap to an enemies head when you aim down sights lol. I wished Aim Assist was nonexistent but understandably, a vast majority of players need it (whether they realize it or not) for joystick aiming. I still use it to some extent to offer some slow down effects when on hitboxes, though depends on the game. 2042, I have it at 20 (out of 100) cuz I did have issues with it being inconsistent and throwing my aim off when above 50. 20 seemed to offer very minimal slow down which after all my sensitivity changes, worked fine. Aim Snap is at 0 because again, I hate it lol. Especially in a game where i want as much control of my aim as possible with no help from a bot.
In the end, implementing decent Gyro Aim completely solves the issue with Aim Assist (which gets shut off when Gyro is used) and most of the janky aim mechanics for stick aiming (accelerations, deadzones, etc). I just wished devs would finally implement this with the same decent adjustable settings we have now. Would be able to keep up with Mouse and Keyboard much easier, has tremendously better feedback like a mouse, yet can still play from my couch or bed with a controller without needing a desk.
Yeah it’s pretty bad. I have only played for around 100 hours but I still unlocked the vast majority of guns and have a good few of them spaded. Battlefield on PC has no recoil and to much on console. It turns it into a completely different game.

BF on PC has no recoil? Are you high? 25% recoil reduction on console not enough for ya? Mouse input has been broken in 2042 since release. With 2000 hours on this game I can assure you that PC has recoil. There are ample videos out there that show direct comparisons between the two systems. You are outright lying.
