Controller settings for team death match

Does anyone know good settings for a game controller? I've been playing team death match for a while, and the game seems fun, but the controller feel is kind of angular. I've been playing Call of duty for years and they have a much better controller feel. I play on an Xbox Series X and a Scuf Instinct Pro controller.

  • @nuppijumiThat's going to be totally individual tastes. Some controller layout may work for some, but it wont work for all.

For me personally, I don't have the controller you speak of, but I do have the Xbox Elite controller - the one with the 4 "triggers" on the underneath of the controller.

I set the top right (when looking at the controller's back) to the UP of the directional pad), with the bottom right being the LEFT of the directional pad (remember.. upside down left becomes upside up side right)

The upper left I set to the Y button (weapon swap), and the lower left is the RIGHT of the directional pad.

So basically, I don't need to take my thumb off the thumbstick during normal play, as whatever you want to be your current "device" you hold is totally covered by the back triggers.

  • There's no way to make the controller feel good. I have around 1500 hours in this game and I guarantee you, there is no combination of settings that will leave you thinking "yeah, this feels fine". More controller settings than any other Battlefield and it still feels the worst.

I've got about 2200 hours in with the standard PS5 controller (albeit about my 8th one due to stick drift problems), and I've not adjusted a single setting.  It feels perfectly fine to me.

@nuppijumi I have a Scuf controller and I actually use it similar to how @OSpazX said they use their Elite controller. The only difference is I tend to map all face buttons (A,B,X,Y) to my paddles in a configuration that I find comfortable so I never need to move my thumb off the right thumbstick.

I'd also suggest taking a look at your deadzones, when I swapped from my Elite controller to my Scuf I found that using slightly lower deadzones on the scuf was more effective and made aiming feel smoother on medium sensitivity.
  • Mentioning controller mapping, I use what's known as evolved I believe in Apex. Switch crouch and melee, switch jump and throw grenade.

This means that vault and parachute deploy also have to be switched. I also remap my switch seat in vehicle.

So what I do with the two paddles I have to work with, I always bind them to the sticks so I don't wear out my sticks so much. I bind auto sprint and completely remove garbage traversal sprinting. This gives me the left stick or paddle to use, to which I bind hold to crouch and vehicle seat 1. Maybe not everyone's favourite use of paddles, but honestly you don't even need them. Just don't rebind the left stick cause you will ruin it more mashing it while trying to sprint.
