pretty sure I had read somewhere that a Dev responded to someone on that ability and that they were in fact already making adjustments based on feedback
@MegatronNerdthe fact it even made it into the game in its current (apparent) form is worrying. It's almost like they did a brain storming session on what would be 'cool' but didnt do a 'how would it work in game' test.
