Discussion, Is it working as intended?

When you see it... Now replay it. Yep that's what you saw. Discuss.

Take a look at the Deltatick numbers from some of my random games below. Upon an instant death without time to react, something adds an extra "out of numerical order" damage tick to finish me off. This happens all the time now and is completely out of hand. Discuss.

DICE/EA what the heck?!?

CM edit: screenshots removed

*EDIT 9-25-22*

In the original pictures I left a few letters of the whole player name unblurred so the incoming Deltatick and ID order numbers could be associated with same player in the chart. The Pictures have been edited so now 100% of the names are blurred out.

  • To convert deltatick into milliseconds, multiply it by 22.22ms. Deltaticks count how many network ticks have passed between damage events.

The network tick rate in 2042 is 45Hz. Which means every 22.22ms a network tick happens.

The above pic breaks down like this:

    Deltatick 0 = 0ms

    Deltatick 3 = 66ms

    Deltatick 4 = 88.88ms

    Deltatick 3 = 66ms

For a total time to death of 220.8ms

The enemy revive bug is definitely not good though!

Hi @OskooI_007 , I removed some of the screenshots from your posts as they were showing a bit of other players' usernames - feel free to re-add them but make sure the names and completely blurred out 🙂

Thanks for posting the details on Detlatick rates so everyone understands how it is supposed to work. Now look at the ID number of the incoming damage along with the Deltatick out of sequence numbers. We now have verified time travel McFly and I’m not even going 88mph!

  • @SeriousJuJu In regards to the video, could there have been an enemy around the mechanical unit on the crane? Rezzed his teammate at the same time you rezzed yours?
  • @ATFGunr  No, they were taken out before I did the revive. The red dot that flashed on the radar nearby wasn't in my same vertical location.

@OskooI_007  Normal in game deaths from single player damage should have Deltatick times similar to the below picture and up to 100% of your current health.

    ID     DELTATICK
    1            0 = 1st hit
    2            5 = 2nd hit (slightly longer time from 1st hit)
3          10 = 3rd hit kill shot (slightly longer than 2nd hit and much longer than 1st hit)
Each damage tick takes slightly longer than the last registered damage tick in order received.

Questionable instant in game deaths have been showing Deltatick times that always look similar to the picture below. Anyone just looking at the numbers in the chart below would assume I took 3 hits of damage and then a brief pause before getting hit with the last kill shot. This is NOT the case; the picture below was an INSTANT DEATH by a run and gun player and it seems that the questionable instant deaths all share this same low-high-low Deltatick time marker tell in the last three hits.

    ID     DELTATICK
    1            0 = 1st hit
    2            4 = 2nd hit (slightly longer time from 1st hit)
    3          99+ = 3rd hit (longer than 2nd hit and a lot longer than 1st hit)
4            4 = 4th hit kill shot (always hits in a much shorter timeframe than the tick before it)

Each damage tick takes longer than the last registered tick until it gets to the very last one which is a "mirror number" of just before the delayed tick.

See the pictures in my OP above for the Deltatick times ignoring everything else. See the random, not so random time patterns? 2-10-2, 3-15-3, 3-4-3 This low, high, and then repeat of the same low Deltatick time number pattern seems to be the recurring tell for this instant kill issue. So, my question still stands, is it working as intended or is it something else?

@EA_Atic  or @EA_Leeuw could you pass this info along if the team doesn't already know.
