I don't know how to feel. I want the game to succeed. I love Battlefield, it's really the only game I play, and have played, over the years. This video gives me some hope to the future, but reading between the lines and listening to what was actually said, I have my doubts.
They are releasing 1 map for S1, which is probably all we get for the 1st 4 seasons(4 total). Not really sure if there will be any new content beyond Year 1, despite the claim that they are invested in 2042.
The revision for Kaleidoscope was said to be released late S1, so when, August? Then the new S2 map probably in September and the revised Renewal map in October or November? They also said they were bringing over previous game maps from Portal into AOW, but didn't say when and how many.
The # of new weapons and vehicles was not brought up, so who knows how many we will actually get. They stated they will start to bring over the older weapons from Portal, but didn't say how many or when, and those guns are essentially already there. It shouldn't have been that difficult.
The biggest issue, was that persistent servers was not mentioned. This indicates to me that it isn't going to happen. It is possible that it may be considered if the player count rises with the release of S1, but most people wont' stay if there isn't persistent servers. Catch-22. Who is going to spend multiple hours trying to play the new S1 map in AOW only to end up coming in on the last 2 minutes of a game on Breakaway or Manifest 8 times in a row?
There is hope that they will make Portal matches able to gain XP again.
If that is the case, a good community creating portal games, which do use persistent servers, could be the solution.
@Straatford87 Can we please just have a single straight answer, is BF2042 getting a Server Browser / Persistent Servers. ?
The community have been asking this question since launch and we would really appreciate an answer, thanks.
