@A_Cool_GorillaIt's more than just gadget type, it also applies to available weapons. I really don't need a sniper that can be an medium range assault that can morph into a cqb assaulter on the fly. Your choice of class may put you at a disadvantage in a particular part of a map. But, you may be in a situation that demands going into that disadvantaged realm for the good for the team. Or it forces your team to pick up where you are not the best person at that moment. It's a layer of battlefield that gets stripped for instant gratification.

@A_Cool_GorillaFair enough, I just think you're in the minority on this.
Addendum: I disagree with not limiting weapons engagement distances. That is part of the rock, paper, scissors formula that has worked for the series before this debacle.

@-DFA-ThumpYeah, I could be a minority, but it's hard to gauge given the hate for specialists and the poor state of the game.
I think we would need a solid release without specialists, and without classes. A game that's properly balanced and fun to play, for the idea to get a proper chance to win players over. As it stands now, I think most players are pretty disappointed or frustrated at the quality of this game's release, and it's easy to want it to go back to something safe that we KNOW is fun, as opposed to something new.EDIT: As far as BF3 / BF4 goes, I absolutely think it would have worked. I think it's a change that would be forgotten about fairly quick, given that your squad still needs a good composition.

@A_Cool_GorillaIt might be fun, but it doesn't fit the expectations of a battlefield title by what appears to be the majority of the player base. There is an expectation for this who play the sniper role, anti armor role, medic/ healer role, and the ammo giver role. Their weapons and the sounds they make also allow you to understand your opponents squad composition based on audio. This provides readability in the chaos of the fight. All of this feeds into gameplay.
Fair enough as far as your response to the BF3/4 question. We'll have to see where they take the next BF to have a chance to see if they take that route.

@A_Cool_Gorilla That's why I proposed for the Specialist's rework is to turn Specialist into classes by restricting the Specialist's 2nd gadget based on the Specialist's Class while letting anyone equip any weapon they wanted, You can still equip any weapon you wanted but you're limited to the gadget you are bringing based on the Specialist's class that you've pick
