@Straatford87@PartWelsh - Long time Battlefield fan here. Something i really wish you all could get across to the people in charge of this game.I know many here are against Battle Royale Mode, thats fine for them . However i want to point out why Hazard Zone failed and did not take off. Its boring. You try to get some drives, kill some bots maybe a few real players then try to escape. Your reward? Unlock an extra thing to use in next match. What kind of reward is that?
Look , i grew up playing and loving BF series. Since then i also have grown ( like many not on this forum) to love the Battle Royale mode. Firestorm was actually really good. The issue was not that it was a BR. The issues were it was set in WW2 where most your guns had no scopes, it launched too long after launch of the game and you wanted to basically put it behind a paywall to play it. Every other BR out is Free to Play. Thats how you bring in the numbers to get people to even try it out. Instead you all over thought it and tried to redo what BR is and instead you made a simple extraction mode. Let me be clear. Extraction mode is NOT a Battle Royale. Its just not. BR is simply be the last man/team alive. Nothing more , nothing less. Hazard Zone is in no way a BR also , once again you all hide it behind a paywall. EA released Apex , made it free to play and look at how well it has done and still is doing .
I played HZ and tried to like it but in reality it just felt boring. "Winning" a match felt more like luck of not being the team getting killed trying to get to the plane and the reward of unlocking something else for next match felt like a joke. Many BR fans was looking to you all to create a CURRENT ERA BR with current era weapons and scopes.
I know some will say " there are enough BRs out there already". Which is such a stupid comment. There are a lot of shooters out there, does that mean no news ones should be made? How ignorant. There is only 1 current BR on the market that is remotely Mil Sim and that is PUBG. It has been dying off due to * poor management. The true only reason that game is still going is because there is no real competition for it . Apex , Warzone , Fortnite are not real comp for that game because they are all way more casual and arcadey. PUBG is the only one that feels more realistic and the gunplay is awesome( no aim assist at all). Many BR fans really were hoping and looking to Dice to create a true great Mil Sim Battle Royale to fill in that huge gap that is there in that genre. There are no other options so people still play PUBG but the fact is you all could have made a great current era mil sim BR and if you had made it free to play you would have introduced Battlefield to many more new people who have not played it in the past by drawing in more BR fans whom are young. Yes EA "already has a BR" but its a fantasy style BR not a realistic one. The two draw in totally different crowds. There is a huge market out there dying for a true mil sim BR and no company is filling it. Really wish your company could understand the real reasons why Firestorm failed to gain much traction. It was not because people did not like the BR you made. They didnt like the era and the many guns not having scopes. They did not like it being hide behind a paywall and it launching so far past launch caused many to just forget about it. Firestorm to this day still has by far the best ever closing circle of any BR. The gameplay , map design , and overall scope of Firestorm was really good and i sure do miss it . Maybe one day you all will listen to actual feedback on why it failed, why HZ failed and realize there is a big market looking for a Mil Sim BR that many of us feel only Dice could do right.
