After puting many hours into the beta, I came to one conclusion. Specialists suck! They make the game unrealistic in every way, they don't make sense, and this game didn't feel like a battlefield game because of them. I personally feel they should scrap the entire specialist system and bring back the normal battlefield class system.

You cannot identify friend from foe, it destroys the 2 decade long paper/rock/scissors balancing via COD's create-a-class concept, you have no idea which teammate is carrying ammo/health/reps, and this leads to everybody creating the most self centered lone wolf load outs which further contributes to lessening the teamwork. I have a yet to see any reason beyond trend chasing and monetization that explains why Battlefield was suddenly turned into a Hero Shooter.

I've yet to see a coherent argument FOR specialists. I know that the only reason they are in the game is to sell the battlepass and dice was probably forced to put them in by ea but besides money I haven't heard a single good argument in their favour.

Yep. The specialists idea is such a bad idea and just ruin the whole Battlefield.If they wanted to make this specialists game.. thats fine, go for it, experiment, have fun.. but dont call it Battlefield... Taking the Battlefield name and pulling this specialists poop on it is just wrong.. Hate whats happened here.. this is not Battlefield... Way to take a beloved franchise and screw it all up, just for your greedy pockets.. for shame.. So so very disappointed about the specialists, hate it.. so disappointing

I don't think realism is the problem at all as BF are far from it, but yeah, they are an awful choice and don't belong to the franchise at all

@dirtytamato Well with less than 4 weeks to release its kinda pointless. I think they could tweak them and fans offered many compromises for Dice to dig into. Like with every BF, things will develop and maybe change after release. I dont mind the whole idea as i never played Cod, Apex or whatever the kids play these days. Im much concerned about that everyone running around the battlefield will look the same and thus taken out the immersion. But like i always say, it is what it is. We'll all have to play a few games to see if its really terrible or not.

I full heartedly disagree. I'm pretty sure our us military don't run around with an auto turret in their back pocket.

@dirtytamato They do not, but Boris is not American and this is a “future” setting game… beside the point though.

The military does identify combat roles within a squad or team for each member to fill, but cross-training can make those combat roles interchangeable and I see specialists in much the same light. You could argue about the Medic / Corpsman, but even Combat Lifesaver Training is widely taught across the board.

The Specialist system looks really interesting and we’ll see soon enough how well it works in practice. I’m really excited for Hazard Zone. Specialist definitely didn’t make the beta bad in anyway. The wall-hacking lady will probably need to balanced, but that’s any game. It’s not going to be perfect at launch.

I'll reserve my judgements untill the full game is out with all 10 specialist to see how the balancing is in combination with the updated UI. Specialists be could grow on me, I'll have to see.

@dirtytamato I’m pretty sure they don’t carry a bunch of parachutes either.

It’s a game, not a sim. There’s not much that’s realistic about BF if you actually break it down for a second. The focus for any game should be balancing which I would argue makes for the most fun. I’ve played classes for years now, kinda boring.
