I have bigger fears. The world is changing. Battlefield is like rock music. Less and less people enjoy it or appreciate it.
The other day I was playing conquest on discarded, and I watched a scene unfold on the big field. There was a tank, struggling against a helicopter and against another tank and infantry. Almost died but somebody jumped out of the tank and repaired the tank. Another guy started to shoot rockets at the helicopter trying to help out the tank. More and more people jumped in and the tank survived. It was amazing to watch the whole thing. That is my Battlefield, my rock music which less and less people care about.
Most people nowadays, see the tanks and helicopters and the weather as a distraction.
“ please don’t bother me or bug me while I am running and shooting between walls.“
This will destroy Battlefield. There is not enough players enjoying thie ‘battlefiled ‘aspect of gaming. Everybody wants fast paced run and gunning. Dice tries to do everything to make money. They have to cater as much as they can to the new crowd. Let it be micro transactions or cringe lines at the end of the rounds, etc.. they have to put a DJ on stage with Metallica. You know what I mean?
I don’t know if battlefield can be saved, it’s like doesn’t matter how good the next Metallica album is, I don’t think the radio suddenly will start to play rock music more. Dice is in a tough spot, even if they remaster battlefield 3 or battlefield 4, not as many people will play it as 10 years ago. They need to make money, they are a business. Good luck to them. I wish they will succeed somehow.

Pretty good analogy, which is I try to qualify some of my posts with the fact that it feels like i’m no longer their market audience. You know, the couple of 40+ year olds in the world buying games……..

If they were smart, they would have two parallel BF titles running. One is a direct competitor to COD/APEX/PUBG etc, fast TTK, lone wolf stuff with a free-to-play component, then have the traditional BF title with a campaign and BF3/4 style gameplay and game modes, with updated graphics, destruction, and a small new twist like the "T-System".
And to think, in this title we got neither and the least amount of MP content ever in a BF title.
- JOGAGATYA3 years agoSeasoned Ace@CloverDeuce Me too. Approaching 50 I play on the PlayStation 4 with other guys with a microphone. Just randoms. When I finally enjoy the game with someone, they like to talk, just like me, they don’t really enjoy just running and gunning, and they like the huge all out warfare. And they’re all around 50 years old.
- Adamonic3 years agoLegend@CantGetRight I might not make it that far. I literally have zero interest to play. I am barely getting the weeklies done, normally just enough to complete the bonus mission even if a few are not completed.
Looking back at the arc of this game, this all came down to profit margins. Dev time = less profits. So if you can get a title out the door as fast as possible with the shortest amount of dev time, you can cut the losses considerably. Then after it launches, you put most of that dev crew on another title and only leave the smallest amount of devs as humanly possible to maintain the title for the remainder of the lifecycle. That is exactly what we are seeing in BF2042. Hell, with the radio silence, I would not be surprised if the CMs were back clearing the Jira backlog. - CloverDeuce3 years agoSeasoned Ace@JOGAGATYA Hit me up. I am usual on most evenings PST (Clover Deuce) Always got my mic on.
BUT... I did just purchase my 1st COD title ever because of how bad this has gotten, especially the past couple weeks with the insta-kills and 300m AM40 one shot deaths.
Hoping it gets better, but my faith is gone on this one unfortunately and I won't ever pre-order another BF title like I have since BC2 because of it either.

@LordVader666it's also like they are intentionally antagonizing players by only "allowing" players to play in the manner in which they want the players to play (referring to having 24/7 maps for some modes and not others)That's the part that really pees me off.
No server browser in AOW is such an arrogant move to make and a direct F U to the core playerbase.
I get that most players probably used quick match in previous games but they still gave the core, who keep the game alive between releases, the browser and map rotations.
To take that away and then tell us we aren't getting it back while telling us they are fully committed to supporting 2042 is insulting.
On a related note, a mod on the lowsodium2042 reddit sub who claims they work for Dice attacked the server browser from V and said they don't work because people 'have' to queue on servers and can't play!
He's also defended taking away Exodus Conquest 64 so everyone can get a chance to play different modes.
Interesting peak in to the minds of the people who work at Dice.
@JOGAGATYA I'm not 100% sure you're correct. Yes there are those that like all that bunny hopping, sliding jump happy BS, but this game proved it's not all about that when it says "Battlefield". There is a reason the player numbers are so low and it's not just all the game breaking bugs...it's the face they tried to put on BF. I'm willing to bet if this game was BF1 like in classes, movement and netcode, and UI but had no bunny hopping and sliding, no "heroes", still had mediocre maps and crappy weapons balance, and even ADS issues, you would have more players and lots of them. Not nearly as many as if the game was on the money, but much more. It's really the fact that this is a BF game in name only that has run most of our brothers and sisters off...with the craziness of trying to make this into something it's not.

The only reason some people cant play some modes is because they REMOVE the friggin option to do it!
Wait, i reread what you wrote, was his excuse to FORCE people to "get a chance to play other modes?!?!"
Post a link please, i want a piece of this action
