EA community managers problem?

People would stop posting the same complains (like you said, the 562 posts about falling player numbers) if the would get the impression that they are being listened to and taken seriously.

A clear response from the CM regarding the sate -- coupled with the essential 3 words that many of us are waiting for* -- would go a long way.

Acknowledging the problems. Summarizing the feedback they have gathered and are about to pass on is key in being taken seriously. Active listening when most of the stuff is being done in writing is not easy, but if the CM was not picked at random from a group of people without communications training, he would know what his job requires.

Hell, if he is reading these lines and really feels as helpless as he seems to be, please feel free contact me via PM and I will gladly tell you what the expectation is the community has from a good CM.

He has posted elsewhere that his team look at all of the Battlefield 2042 forums every day and they see the feedback and that includes this forum.

What they refuse to do is engage due to the sheer toxicity that is displayed especially on the reddit forums.

Actions have consequences.

CM's barely engage with regular people anyways. No wonder people feel left in the dust given the state of the game and the communications between devs/CM's.

Shame because Reddit has some REALLY good, documented feedback. Have some thick skin and engage people who are open to constructive feedback.

Well I don't know what customer service centre you've worked in but rude customers are not tolerated in the ones I've worked in.

@DuaneDibbley I think we are mostly saying the same thing - the community (not just reddit, but also Twitter, Youtube, Steam, etc) are all pretty negative and not super useful for anything but complaining right now, but EA/DICE let it get in that state by staying silent and let others fill the communication void when communication was very much needed.

Maybe the game is in the current state because community managers simply aren't communicating ANY of the problems to the dev teams. Could it be?

Regarding Freeman not paying attention to Reddit that is why we tell people here to be constructive and detailed when leaving feedback so it's taken seriously instead of written off. The devs are human so if you have legitimate feedback but it's wrapped in a nice sandwich of "you devs are lazy what in God's name are you doing?" it's probably going to be ignored.

PartWelsh is right in that engaging with both reddit communities will not be helpful

With that said, neither is interreacting with Twtter or instagram or facebook or even here

There is nothing of substance that they can say that will excuse the horrid quality that 2042 was launched in

My first question if a CM was here that had detailed knowledge of the dev cycle would be 'Why are basic features like a scoreboard and voip happening MONTHS after launch and not only that, but needing to be delayed'?

The response would likely be something along the lines of 'We didn't have enough time to implement those things'

To which I would think 'That's not a valid excuse for a AAA studio releasing a AAA multiplayer-only game to have'

Apply that same thought process for any particular missing feature/mechanic or design decision

@Psubond I think the drift of the OP was if the CMs don't engage with the community, what exactly is their role?

I agree with you that there is a lot of toxicity, angry people say things behind the protection of social media that they would probably not say face to face.

However, there are plenty of people that have constructive feedback, honest questions and quite simply want to know what happened to the franchise. They are also being ignored.

When communication fails, then the trolls get stronger, the rest end up moving on to other games. I have played since BF2 and BF2142, with thousands of hours of play. BF2142 has less than ten hours and I ended up uninstalling it yesterday. I have been hanging on for updates to see what was happening going forward. We now have that in the form of they will add a better scoreboard in March (nothing else was promised for that update). They have then said that they will start working on some things that should have been ready at launch (squad play, communication, etc) up to the start of season one in the summer (no firm dates or commitments).

So essentially the roadmap now seems to be they will try to get the game working by the summer. They will not be making it into what I consider to be a Battlefield game, hence my uninstalling it.

I did receive a feedback survey a few weeks back, but the main concern seemed to be if you had told other people not to buy the game or were thinking of it. No apparent interest in what could turn the game around for veterans.
