EA have just announced they are splitting Entertainment (BF, Apex, Star Wars, etc.) and Sports devisions.I wonder what this means for Battlefield, specifically, for the future. This is a common corporate restructure prior to selling off a division.I think the Sports division is probably the fastest growing, most profitable division, so the Entertainment division is the most likely to be (potentially) hived off.Wonder if Sony have expressed an interest in EA (or part thereof) following Microsoft's interest in Activision?Interesting days ahead!

@UP_Hawxxeye sounds very plausible - the Sports division would be more profitable than the Entertainment division. Would EA invest more in a less profitable division? I wouldn't.

@Lancelot_du_Lac Don’t forget they lost the exclusive rights to Star Wars and Ubisoft seems to be ready to roll out a solid looking SW game. Jedi Survivor is by all accounts a good game (rocky start to PC though) On Sports side they lost FIFA (who wanted ridiculous money). BF over the last couple of series has struggled both technically and in sales. Throw in the rumours since what, 2022, about EA wanting to sell. It might be about to get very interesting.

@ATFGunr was not aware of the Star Wars rights. I get FIFA - they wanted crazy money (and soccer is not that big in their home market - US)

Maybe they realized that they do not need to have much of a budget for the Sports division.
They just need to re-release the same game with updated rosters and the PAY-ers (the L is missing intentionally) will just throw money at them.

Meanwhile they actually need to invest time and money to get the Entertainment division working.
Just look at how much work 2042 actually takes to reach a semi-decent state.
It is just wishful thinking at this point, but I will that the success of the LoZ: Tears of the Kingdom will teach the gaming industry that a good game needs lots of time of developing and even more to polish

a few things can hapopen from this.
EA Entertainment stays its own publisher and continues on under Vince Zempella
EA Entertainment gets bought up by a bigger publisher and gets dissolved/integrated into whatever company buys it up
EA Entertainment goes bankrupt in a few years unless Vince Zempella drastically changes things and they start to actually make decent games again....

@X-Sunslayer-X I hope Zampella can get a grip on this mess and start publishing high-quality games instead of making some weird experiments like 2042.

Lets be honest here, Battlefield is a huge franchise with a solid foundation that nobody was able to take from them. Given proper time and leadership, they can easily pull off an amazing game. With current lessons and experience new devs had in 2042, I think they have an idea of how actual BF game should look like.
