If you're on PC you can use Radeon Super Resolution to upscale any game, but it requires a 5000 series card or newer.
I just found out about Nvidia's Image Sharpening Upscaler and I've been using it in Battlefield 1 to upscale 1600x900 to 1440p. It looks waaay better than using BF1's built-in resolution upscaler!
Fortunately, Nvidia's upscaler works on older Nvidia cards all the way back to 700 and 900 series. I'm using it on a 1060 card. I have no idea why AMD doesn't support older cards with Radeon Super Resolution.
It's definitely with a look if you have a 5000 or newer series Radeon card. Just turn Radeon Super Resolution on in the driver software, set 2042's in-game resolution to 1080p, and it will automatically upscale 1080p to 1440p or 4K.

AMD's RSR is nice but you can tell it lacks in quality. Even AMD says it doesn't compare to FSR 1.0. If all the hype is real, then FSR 2.0 is the real deal and hopefully it can be implemented.
In the meantime, I found a nice compromise. Something I can't believe I didn't do earlier. I upped my resolution to 3072x1728. Squarely between 2k and 4k. Image quality is really good but 2k the cost is comparable to 2k on my system.
Come on Dice. Add FSR 2.0.

What resolution is your monitor? 4K?
I also heard it would take DICE around 3 days to implement FSR 2.0 into Frostbite according to AMD's FSR 2.0 Game Developers Conference 2022 lecture.
FSR 2.0 is also compatible with consoles and would allow console players to have a higher quality upscaler than the one currently being used. I believe a lower quality checkerboard upscaler is currently being used in 2042.

Yeah, I have a 4k monitor. Between 2k and 4k I have three additional resolutions. The resolution I set the game to doesn't stretch everything out or squeeze anything, basically it maintains the correct the ratio in the screen. It is higher than 2k so I get better image quality but low enough I stil get FPS between 80-120 FPS depending on the map with everything maxed out minus ray tracing.
You know, I think I read somewhere that if a game already had DLSS in it then it would take 2-3 days to add FSR 2.0, otherwise it would take 1-2 weeks. I found that to be quite interesting.
Add FSR 2.0 Dice. Please!

- 4 years ago@SCADAguy didn't rsr gives wied F1-F5 presses all the time?
Unfortunately rsr does not work with battlefield 2042, instead we get a msg saying that FSR is supported, which means dice had fsr built into the engine this entire time and hasn't allowed us access to it because they were paid by nvidia to hold off.
- 4 years ago@King1Nes I can enable rsr for bf but it is unplayable because game receives all kind of wierd button presses (F1-F5, can't unzoom weapon, can't run ant etc.)

We all know (devs included) that BF 2042 has big optimizations issues.
You MUST add FSR to BF 2042. It will drastically help players to have good performances.

RSR does work and it will give you a notification that says Radeon Super Resolution ACTIVE or INACTIVE.....Depending on Resolution you choose
- 4 years ago@ARISORiGiN1982 one guy implement fsr 2 for cyberpunk as a mod and it mostly works (there are issues here and there but mind that he doesn't have access to game engine).
In general it usually take devs around an hour to add fsr. Could be done here? Sure! Will it be done? I wish to believe but I don't have my hopes high on this one.
