For a "Live Service" game there hasn't been much service.
Where are the regular content drops?
Seven maps (two of which are completely crap for Conquest .... kaLIEdascope and hourglass) on release and only a couple that are any good.
No scoreboard (not only to see how you're doing but to see what insane KD the PC hackers are achieving).
No VOIP.
No server selection.
No map selection.
No console ONLY cross-play (because then the PC players will have to play against each other instead of farming the console players)
--- funnily enough there were TWO "crossplay ON/OFF" options in the Beta test menus, then they removed one for the game release.
No incentives for squad or team play (we have a commo rose but it's pretty much useless without some functionality).
I thought there would be some sort of awesome reward for cracking level S001, but no, there was nothing at lvl99 to lvlS001, and nothing since for levelling.
We've had a couple of "weekly missions" so far but only one had any sort of useful objectives.
I had a squad the other day that typed in chat that they were going for heals/revives and then spent the entire round TRYING to die or get injured so they could work the weekly objective.
How about some objectives that actually encourage the team-play that Battlefield used to be known for?
Suggestions -
- capture control points,
- defend control points,
- repair friendly vehicles,
- spot enemies.
You know....stuff that is useful.
You could also do something about removing some of the stupid stuff that is permitted in this game.
For example - spawning vehicles onto buildings. They actually decided way back in Battlefield 2 (yes, that long ago) that being able to spawn vehicles within the footprint of a building was a bad idea and they removed the ability to do so. Did none of the current Dev's ever play the previous Battlefield titles?
Currently Battlefield 2042 does not meet the definition of a "Live Service" game.
It's time something was done.
