Genuine issue with vault weapons without 2042 attachments (2.1 dev corner)

Hi Battlefield community/community managers/developers,

Yesterday was the 2.1 dev corner, in which contained a part where Alexander Formoso spoke about vault weapon attachments. He said the following:

"We don't want to add the 2042 attachments to these (vault) weapons. Because on one side it takes away from the nostalgic element that they have, like the weapons, like you remember them from the original games. On the other side we have attachments that occupy the same design space as the classic ones, we don't want to dilute the experience with like double the scopes and double the grips with the same modifiers."

And for the most part I agree with Alexander's point, authenticity is important and bloating the weapons with all the 2042 attachments is also not gonna pack out well. But I think there is a huge mistake made with basically closing the door on this. For example: Yesterday I unlocked the GOL Magnum, a favourite of mine, still I was pretty disappointed that I didn't have the option to add at least a suppressor on the barrel or a laser instead of a bipod. We can literally look at BF4 what certain 2042 attachments would fit in there.

I think we're going to have a genuine problem with vault weapons that are older than BF3. I (and I think lots of others too) have a suppressor somewhere in the plus menu, because there are some situation where you're like "* I better approach this stealthy". I think this will cause that the vault weapons will have more of a "lets be nostalgic for a day" effect and not something that's in someone's regular load out. Since the 2042 weapons in its weapon category are basically more op, because they're usable in more situations.

I think the community would agree that vault weapons should get some 2042 attachments, carefully picked, so that you can at least adapt your weapon to the situation you're in and also have a somewhat modernised feel to it. Otherwise BFBC2 weapons and older are gonna feel boring really really soon, that would be a waste of the work for porting it to 2042 imo.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Please +1 if you agree.

  • Hello there,

Thanks for taking the time to write your feedback!

We've only rolled out 5 Vault Weapons so far and we'll continue to monitor their performance and fit into the meta. As more of them start rolling out and we identify their lack of adaptability becomes an issue, then we can always review the available options again.

But for now we are happy with our current approach of keeping the Vault Weapons authentic to their specific Battlefield eras.

  • @thatboiralphy for example, I am wondering how the suppressors of the vault weapons fare compared to those of the 2042.
Are they light or heavy like they were in the old games

@Straatford87 I agree with him. The gol could use a suppressor and a few more optics. I'd like to see the 2042 8X scope for it. Also I know the nostalgic feel with the 1911 is there but I'd still like to atleast have a laser for it, it needs it. Btw I thought we were getting the AKS-74U, I seen the badge for it on Tuesday. I get on today and it wasg hotfixed away?

I have to agree with this post the vault weapons need to have all attachments not just some they need extended mags they need all the scopes let the player base decide if they want to run with the old stuff for authenticity all the the stuff is there? So just combine it. Let us choose if we want to run old scopes or new stuff on our guns.
