Getting frustrated trying to win gunfights (dying too much)
Hey gang...so I've been playing Battlefield since BF4 (got BF3 later) and am sort of enjoying BF2042 so far...some of the game I like and some I don't, with bugs and some really mind-boggling design decisions, but it is what it is, I bought it, and I'm enjoying it enough to keep playing for now.
The problem I'm running into is just losing about 95% of the gunfights I ever get into. I am mainly using the M5A3 or (more often) the LCMG with Angel or Falck because I prefer to play a support role. I am not a l33t FPS player by any means...I'm 55, have never had fast twitch reflexes, but I like to think I'm not THIS bad. Fact is, though, I'm getting constantly wrecked. It feels like I'm getting a little of that old BFV "it takes 5 hits for me to kill somebody but I die in one hit" thing with the hitreg, but I think my bigger issue is a lack of visibility with some of the darker maps (like when the storms roll in) and just getting seen before I see other people. The other guy(s) get the drop on me almost always and I basically die instantly. Try to hide, I get spotted and die. Try to move out to do a revive or push an objective, I get sniped or somebody with that crazy PP-29 nails me. It's getting frustrating because my old support/medic roles from BF1/BFV don't seem to be nearly as useful here, with fewer points, nobody waiting for revives, nobody actually reviving me when I get killed, a near total lack of team play due to all the broken/missing teamplay tools (no voice chat, no platoons, limited squad functionality, etc.)...yeah. Feels like I'm playing 1v64 sometimes and I'm not good enough to pull that off.
Anybody got any tips to help out with this? Gun attachments, specific BF2042 tactics that work, ways to make the LCMG more accurate or another gun to try out once I get some more levels (I'm level 14)? Thanks.
