Try following at least 1 teammate and let them take the lead. They will get shot at first giving you more time to find a target and return fire.

Yeah, I may have to give this a pass for a bit. The random bullet bloom is annoying. When I can put the center dot of an LCMG on a static target at medium range, fire nine shots, and not a single one of them hits, something is whacked. SMGs are too strong relative to the other gun types at all but long ranges, the balancing is just weird. BFV gunnery was better than this and BFV was the Battlefield up until now that frustrated me the most because I did so poorly.
Also...in past Battlefields, support characters still had some sort of limited AV capability. They don't now. You can take the ammo crate OR the M5 OR the Stinger lookalike. If you want to play support/resupply like I do a lot (to maximize team effectiveness because individually I'm not good), you're completely vulnerable to vehicles. So as a result, medic/ammo crates are really hard to find. And even with an LCMG you can chew through 300 rounds real fast.
At least I can open up attachments for guns now by getting kills in a bot game to get to a mastery cutoff, and then getting one kill in multiplayer to trip the next level of mastery (you apparently can't get mastery in solo/coop but the kills do count toward attachments). That'll be handy in getting used to new guns as I unlock them.

I play angel almost exclusively because he has the loadout crate to resupply me and others and can carry anti vehicle weapons.

Agreed with OP.
Its pretty total chaos and not so much fun.
Nobody really cares about dying anyway, as no scoreboard or anything. So its all just all-in and no thoughts for strategy or teamwork. Spawn in, hope that you do not spawn on that single spot where enemies are camping for you there. Then try and find a place with some cover and then try and find out where the heck you are on this big map. Because the spawn map is so big and lacking all details that you hardly know where you spawn, which squad mate you joined on or even if you are in a vehicle or not...
Remember now, this is the fantastic new-gen kind of game.
- We are all our own super heros now.
- We all get great awards at the end of the round.
- Even if you loose the round and you shot nobody, you still get so many points that you normally rank up at least one level.
(some irony may have been included in bulleted list above...)
