Helos are severely OP and should not carry unlimited ammo/regen
Let's face it: Helos of any kind are the bane of ground troops and vehicles everywhere. Due to DICE's desire to make BF an arcade type hero shooter rather than the core experience that once made it great, the brain trust felt that it would be idea to allow these machines to loiter indefinitely unless they are shot down, thus making the game a far less than enjoyable game given how many of them can be up at any given time. Airpower is great, but it's needs to be reigned in.
DICE used to require aircraft to RTB (return to base) in order to rearm. Why this mechanic was removed in favor of the present's auto regen setup is beyond me. The game was far better before and added at least some semblance of realism when they had to leave the AO in order to re-arm or repair. This mechanic should return to the game immediately.
Reducing the number of air vehicles solves little in the grand scheme of things. We need balance to the playing field be it in the air or on the ground and the present situation isn't it. It's been broken in this way since BF2. Given the size of the maps, there's no reason they can't implement this feature once more.
Yeah, yeah. I know repair monkeys can sit in a Condor or Hind and torch to their heart's delight. That's fine... to a point. Repairs of that sort should not ever exceed 50% of the health of the aircraft. The in flight repair should not exceed 75%. If you want to risk staying in the fight with a damaged aircraft or exhausted munitions, you risk being shot down because of it. You want to stay in the fight longer? Go back and rearm while letting someone else take your place.
I'm sure the air jockeys will hate it, but I'm good with hearing what they have to say... and make it meaningful discussion.
