Here are August patch notes
interesting changes, helo pilots won't like them

I don't believe Portal weapons will make their way into AOW (I remember the team saying they are completely different entities and there would be problems).
Would be sweet if we could get masteries and stuff with the old weapons though - they handle quite different now (at least it seems that way), but are still fun

For beginners, the range was 0-20m, not 0-10m?
And then, the issue wasn't its close range power, but how hard it hits long range?
22->18 damage is 6 bullets to kill at point blank - seriously? pea shooter.
As a hele pilot IDM these patches, seems to implement proper balance.
I'm liking the AA tank power increase. It's going to be very strong now against heles - possibly even OP. I felt (when using it myself) that it was already fairly good, just not enough against a condor or hind.
Sad that I just finished Paik t1 ☹️
Annnnd.. There is either tons of unmentioned patches, OR the game is still in a seriously screwed state. (Hello, breakthrough defense having access to vehicles again? Did we regain our 10-20 FPS? Do heles spawn with a disabled engine still?)
The breakthrough defender piece not being mentioned is huge for me.... did they really not resolve that yet?

Will you ever add the portal weapons?
I'm giving up on those coming during S1. Honestly wondering if work has even started on that at this point, or if it was just something they announced and sorta maybe intended to do but decided to cut it without word.
Seriously, I know it takes time to update Portal weapons for AOW - getting mods to work on them, adding progression tracks etc., but with "the whole studio" working on 2042 and there being a whopping two weapons this season (one of which being a damned crossbow which I still laugh at) it does feel like everything happens at a snails pace. Just a snail going through a maze of salt, so it's gotta be extra super duper slow and careful.
Good looking notes overall now that I've had a chance to read through. Still work to do but lots of problem areas are being worked on and bugs are being fixed but...
What's going on with specialists? So we're getting some visual updates which is nice and all (Sundance is hard to tell, seems like her hair is a bit smaller? And don't ask me about Falck...wrinkles on her brow? No facial hair on either so it's less obvious), but...what's going on with specialists? Is it taking forever just to do some minor visual updates for them? Is this the extent of the "tone" changes after removing the cringe end of round lines?
What about the design of them, and the ill-fated "specialist feedback loop"? At this point I feel like we should just assume that these "Feedback loops" are done, that the rare email survey's are about all we're gonna get, and it feels like the big February "WE WANT TO WORK WITH YOU TO IMPROVE THE GAME!" sentiment was a load of BS the studio never intended to deliver on, especially after realizing how badly it was going in the first map feedback loop thread.
Specialists are being given new voice lines before and during matches as well to give a more hardened feel. People were saying they were all too clean and stuff so visually, debris and other tweaks to reduce bugs were made.
A lot of it is pretty subtle, but something is better than nothing and we're getting there.
Can't really speak for the feedback loops - we are getting a drip feed but you're right - it's always nice to have more. I reckon we'll see an increase in frequency closer to S2
@TTZ_DipsyI'm fine with them adding dirt and grit to specialists and changing the tone of some of their lines from, "War is so fun! YOLO!" so they still have some personality but actually feel more tonally apt for the whole, "World has sorta collapsed and we're using mercenaries to fight our wars." type deal.
But that's all cosmetic. Good, but cosmetic. I'm wondering if there is, or was, any intent or desire for addressing mechanical designs of specialists given the widespread negative feedback on them. It doesn't seem so given what Lis's kit ended up being (though at least it included some gadget lockouts which is a step in the right direction IMO), but maybe they designed it that way knowing that they were going to update her kits design when they started working on the rest of the passive/active abilities for specialists or something.
I'm mostly wondering if the actual mechanical design is ever going to be touched, or if this is the extent of the "rework" we should expect with specialists in 2042.
Edit: Can't say I'm optimistic about communication ever improving though. Again, not trying to blame the CM's or be jerks to them or anything because it's extremely likely it's their bosses who have duct taped their mouths and forced them to wear giant gloves so they can't type anything, either. But it's frustrating knowing that DICE has always struggled on communication, seemed to actually realize that their consistently poor communication was a problem when things were at their worst in 2042, but still don't seem to be making meaningful improvements in this regard over time. Especially as the game is getting closer to "alright" and they can sorta fall back into the usual routine again.

- Rao's Hack effect should no longer last when in the passenger seat of a vehicle
I'm not sure what this means. I sure hope it doesn't mean you can cancel the Rao's Hack effect on a vehicle by switching to a passenger seat. Pilots without a full bird will just switch to a passenger seat and back.
My reading of that is that the note is talking about when you're sitting in a passenger seat @DigitalHype.
Good patch notes... except the ones for the stealth helicopters. It will not be enough. And it is simple, why. The 30mm canon is not the main problem of this helicopter, it is his agility and lack of counter. Without playing it, the stealth helicopter will still dominate the battlefields. A litte less killing, but still domination. But hey, you are the Devs...
