There are several potential reasons why Battlefield 2042 may only have one map per season, although the exact reason is not clear as it has not been officially confirmed by the game developers, DICE.
One possible reason is that creating high-quality, detailed maps takes a lot of time and resources. By releasing one map per season, DICE may be able to focus their efforts on creating a single, polished map that players will thoroughly enjoy, rather than spreading their resources too thin across multiple maps.
Another reason could be to encourage players to fully explore and engage with each new map as it is released, rather than quickly moving on to the next one. By giving players more time to play and master each map, they may become more invested in the game and its community, which could lead to a more dedicated player base.
Additionally, releasing one map per season may help to build anticipation and excitement among players, as they eagerly await the next map release and what new gameplay experiences it may bring. This approach has been successfully used by other popular games, such as Fortnite, which releases new content on a regular schedule to keep players engaged and interested.
Overall, there could be several reasons why Battlefield 2042 may only have one map per season, and it is ultimately up to DICE to decide what approach they believe is best for their game and its players.
