I like the idea, but man, they couldn't even get 128 players to work right. Could you imagine how bad a 256 player experience would be?
After this debacle, I expect them to go back to 64 player game modes.
I’ve always thought that 128 would only work if they put the community bits back into 2042.
Squad controls/ platoons/ persistent servers/ maps showing other squads objectives. To name but a few.

100% this, BF2042 has killed the community aspects of BF imho.
