If I change how I purchased a game will it still work in game & app?

Basically the title. Specifically for Battlefield 2042 in my case.

I have Game Pass Ultimate which gives me access to EA Play for PC. I'm thinking of switching to the Xbox only Game Pass, and then buying Battlefield 2042 on Steam due to great sale right now. I'm a Battlefield 2042 season pass holder for the last 3 seasons and don't want to lose my game progress on PC.

Can I buy Battlefield 2042 on Steam and cancel Game Pass Ultimate, essentially cancelling EA Play, and still play through the app and keep my game progress, just now I own the game via Steam?

If you purchase the game from Steam you will need to launch it from Steam, you will also be starting from scratch as Steam and EA APP are two different platforms so your progress will not be saved.

I do not believe that is the case. You end up linking the two accounts and it should be fully cross-progression enabled. Outside of items purchased in game, IIRC, those may be linked to the store purchased on.

  • @fragChowder For example, if you currently have the game in the EA APP and now buy Battlefield 2042 on Steam, you will start from the beginning regardless of your previous subscriptions, because you will be assigned a different Key/Customer ID on Steam or another platform.

I don't know how it works with the Battlefield Pass, but I know that if I had an EA Play subscription, the game saves remain even after it expires/cancels. So if you want to be sure that your game progress will remain, just buy Battlefield 2042 on the same platform and on the same account where you currently have the pass and don't mess around with it.

    To sum up

If you are currently playing Battlefield 2042 in the EA APP on an EA Play or EA Play PRO subscription (the game key you downloaded when purchasing a temporary EA Play or EA Play Pro subscription was assigned to your EA APP account), do not change the platform & Account.

On Steam, you will start from the beginning because, as I mentioned earlier, you will be assigned a different product key and a different cloud.

So if you don't want to lose your progress in the game, buy the game permanently on the same platform you are currently playing on.

If i Helped please give me XP.
