Not in a freaking tank when an enemy with C5 blows me up.
No footsteps and no noise of the C5 being attached to my tank like previous games.
I do however hear faint enemy footsteps at other times.
Reading through reddit and some people are complaining they are too loud and others are complaining they are non existant.
- kregora4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Trokey66 No you are not alone. Footsteps are very loud, and it is very hard to determine the direction they are coming from. I think they are the same volume for someone that is 20m or 2m far away.
- Fringerunner4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Trokey66 I thought it was just a problem with my headset, but apparently not, so yes.
I thought someone was behind a wall i was bravely hiding behind, decided to flank, and got shot by the person who was actually across the courtyard out in the open.
I also had the direction be almost 90 degrees off and a floor off one time as well, sounded like they were coming down the stairs i was at, came out the door next to me instead (though this was rare compared to the distance issue). - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace
Phew, thought it was just me.
Feels like distant footsteps are really loud but can't hear footsteps of people right next to me.
- @Trokey66 Funny, because i don't even hear my own footsteps that well. Only thing i can really hear is my gun, explosions and the osprey, all the other sounds seemed buggy to me. Just like in BFV, when stealth tanks appeared out of nowhere.
- carsono3114 years agoSeasoned Ace@zakrocz ….but you’re in a tank…?
- @Trokey66 Yes both Allie and enemy footsteps are loud.
I also here when people are down calling out for a revive yet no one near me - cso77774 years agoSeasoned Ace
I have tried several sound solutions for this and found that (like in BFV) using surround with DTS Headphone X and either Nightmode or Wartapes, works best for sound.
But footsteps are hit and miss no matter what setting you use. And I have the same experience as others, sometimes they are too loud and sometimes they doesn't work at all.
The same goes for vehicles, if they make any sound (which they often do not) it sounds like they are very far away, even if they are close to you.
It seems like the sound-system of Frostbite really needs some fundamental reworking. Bad sound has always been an issue for Dice (mix/directionality/distance), but 2042 feels like a step back from BFV.
- Prep7684 years agoSeasoned Veteran@Bigmoney2610 I figure that it's the downed enemies are causing this.
@carsono311 are you paid per post or you trying to brown nose someone?
