It's already dead with the branding of previous game features as "legacy features" that warrant a discussion on whether to be put in the game

Well that pretty much seals it for me, I wont' be purchasing any additional Battlefield games going forward.
Real shame too, as I really enjoyed the old style game play. Already stopped playing 2042 and went back to BF4.
Well with CoD dude now leading the franchise, I have ZERO trust or faith in anything EA. 2042 may sell well but the player count is dropping fast and their next game - I will neither preorder nor support them. I wish a different developer would see the chance and make a good BF clone....
- @snakeeyes00 Classes were moved to the loadouts. Assault, Medic, Engineer, and Sniper/Recon are right there with even more room to customize them to our liking. After playing this game. I don't miss the old class system at all.
Removing the super power specialists would be the best fix. I miss the old class system also.
Ok I am putting on my optimistic hat here for everyone who wants a battlefield with traditional classes and a more grounded core experience.
They have just announced they will be creating a battlefield universe so that implies more than one type of battlefield game.
Given the overall reception to traditional classes and armies being removed I suspect EA will realise there is consumer demand within the battlefield playerbase for a more traditional core battlefield game type.
So given that they intend to expand the battlefield universe I can't see why they will not offer different game types and one of them will be a traditional battlefield experience.
So all is not lost, though I think you may have to wait because 2042 is not going to change its core design.

So far I haven't seen a convincing argument that one is better than the other, so I sometimes think it's pure gratuitous hatred of change. The only complaint I understand is about the engineers who should in my view have the repair tool as something fixed in the class, like the medics and defibrillators

I haven't seen anyone really justify how the game was ruined, how the specialist have destroyed team play, or have removed any of the features previously provided by classes.
- @snakeeyes00 If that's true then this is the last game I bought from ea
