The number of new maps every few months, the incredible number of weapons & gadgets, and the diversity of vehicles from map to map with a pretty good vehicle balance overall. BF4 had its faults but damn they delivered some content!
To see the franchise devolving and being set back over a decade as far as content, the quality of existing content and the overall lack of features compared to other BF games is really sad.
Like you I certainly would never have expected BF2042 or any other BF released in 2022 to have turned out as it has.
With only one new map added since launch BF2042 is currently starved of much needed content.
Imho one new map per season will not be enough to freshen BF2042 and attract much needed new players.
As I have said several, times Exposure is much more of a true BF map than the original 7 AOW maps in terms of how it looks and plays.
We need more maps of the same quality and the more the better to help grow the BF2042 player base which will benefit us all and in the long run the whole BF Franchise.
I would say that most of the community are desperate for BF to succeed / survive, only time will tell if it does.
You are missing the point. Despite what is being said, published or advertised, the bare minimum content required to meet the year 1 legal requirements is going to be released and that is it. No more content, no more support. There is no desire to attract new players or retain the current player base, they want everyone to quietly move on to other titles with as little voicing of how poorly this game was handled as possible.
DICE is a company and financially it doesn't make sense to keep pumping money into something that for the most part has had nothing but criticism. This game has already been written off. We can come on the forum everyday and post what we want to see changed and what this game needs to succeed, but they don't care. The decision has already been made, anything being done now in regards to performance is just development for future games at this point.
Can anyone honestly support the amount of content being released if "everyone is only focusing on 2042"? If this is the best effort of an entire studios support, DICE has bigger problems.
The only way this game will succeed is CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT. Even without persistent servers and glitches and bug and specialists if there was more content the game would succeed, and the 1 thing we are getting the bare minimum of is content. OPEN YOUR EYES.

I have a few questions for the people screaming about content...
1. Does the game play normally to you without lag, stutter, DSYNC?
2. Do you not have issues with ADSing weapons when leaving vehicles?
3. Does hit registry TTK/TTD seem ok to you?
If so, good on you and scream on for content, but adding content of any quantity isn't going to fix this in many eyes as it's still just broken...

1. Does the game play normally to you without lag, stutter, DSYNC?
Depending on what server I am on, it usually works fine for me (California), sorry to everyone else having location and PC issues, I'm not seeing it for the most part.
2. Do you not have issues with ADSing weapons when leaving vehicles?
Nope, but i am not using the current meta SFAR either
3. Does hit registry TTK/TTD seem ok to you?
Nope, but I live with it because I like playing BF.
Point being: What is going drive me from this game is lack of new content. There simply isn't enough to keep me interested, Exposure has already gotten old, the S1 Battle Pass is complete and I have already T1'd all the specialist and weapons that I would use normally (Grinding things that I will never use after T1 just to do it does not appeal to me)
DICE can say whatever they want, but actions speak louder than words and the lack of content speaks volumes in terms of their actual commitment to this game.
You can post about the crappy performance being the bigger issue all you want, but if they were to fix all the technical problems today, how long are you really going to keep playing it with the amount of content available?

@CloverDeuce Glad the hear your side is at least playable without gritting your teeth and breaking a mouse or two. 🙂
It's not that I don't want new content. You mistook me. New content is a must, however, If I'm eating chicken soup and it tastes like a$$ and I ask the waiter to bring me something that doesn't taste like a$$, putting carrots in the same soup and bringing it to me fixes nothing. It's still a$$ soup and I don't want to eat more of it because you added carrots. See both sides?
At the end of the day it's our opinions and I respect yours, I was asking because I'm genuinely curious if everyone is having the same issue and WHY you paid your money and aren't bitching about the parts that aren't what you paid for. Scream all you want about new content, I'm just afraid that you won't have anyone to play that shiny new content with because they won't fix the game breaking bugs that we apparently paid for...
- CloverDeuce3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Echo6Echo Thank you, sir and I agree with you on the game needing to be fixed. Just seems like a waste of time for a game that isn't going to be supported in 9 months anyway.
DICE isn't going to spend time and money getting this game where it needs only to shelve it. Minimal patches and minimal content. Player base slowly and quietly dwindles. Mission accomplished. Release new BF game and hope it is good enough to make everyone forget about 2042. - 3 years ago
Don't worry fam, DICE is "all in on 2042"!
They're totally not prioritizing map updates to push out more than a single update a season by focusing on maps that don't need as much work - by their own admission.
They're totally not deprioritizing maps that are absolutely TERRIBLE and need extensive work like Hourglass because that reduces how many map updates they can put out - by their own admission.
Seriously, I don't care how much DICE's dishonest GM goes out and lies in interviews about how committed DICE is to 2042 - there's literally no expression of that commitment via updates (they're nice, don't get me wrong! but not "hundreds of people working on the game that launched like trash" nice), no expression in the communications on the game (often quite the contrary). We just have to "take DICE's word" which, at this point as we've seen, isn't worth squat.
DICE can't even keep Sundance's pronouns consistent in their damned 1.2 video update lol. They kept using gendered pronouns for the only non-binary character in the game, highlighting just how little Sundance being non-binary means and how they don't even remember that irrelevant, pointless detail internally when discussing specialists.

I heard somewhere, don't recall where, that this was supposed to be a battle royal until they realized they couldn't make that happen so quick coded some * to make it into what it is today.
That's why it's so tough for them to balance anything. It was never designed for quick change...

It absolutely was going to be a PAID FOR battle royale game. Who the hell pays for a BR game? You can easily see the DNA of BR in 2042. Why do you need persistent servers in a BR game? That's not how they work. Why do you need squad management tools in a BR game? Why do you need a server browser, etc, etc, etc.
This was going to be a hero shooter BR game that EA actually thought BF players would pay for!
That idea was dropped, but the design mechanics remain in place.
We'll get 3 more maps and once S4 has deployed that will be it. I was hoping for new classic maps for Portal but that doesn't seem to be happening.
How EA, DICE and Ripple Effect have taken one of the biggest most beloved franchises in gaming history and turned it into what we have now is astonishing.
They had the easiest job in the world. Take everything good about BF5 and shift it forward to a near future setting. That's it.
2042 will go down in gaming history for all the wrong reasons.
- 3 years ago@ABC-Warrior-real I guarantee in a few years from now people will be saying how great 2042 is!
- 3 years ago@CantGetRight And in a few years, 2042 might actually BE great! (though I'm less optimistic compared to previous BF entries)
As is DICE tradition as of late: Launch a rushed, unfinished, poorly designed game. Go on a non-apology tour. Spend years fighting with the community and incrementally improving the game. Finally get the game into a good state after years of updates...and then drop support to move onto the next game. - 3 years ago
They never apologised for 2042. Most of the devs act like they have done a flawless work and most criticism is unvalid. As much as ea has the blame, dice seems to be the real culprit of the act
- 3 years ago
@CantGetRight @No, it will be forgotten like hardlin
- 3 years ago@edgecrusherO0 You missed 'forget everything that made the previous game good, start from scratch and introduce a while new set of issues and bugs'
