It won't be supported at launch, but they'll still work on it to make it available.

"We’ve heard your questions about mouse and keyboard support for consoles. We can confirm that we won’t be supporting this on consoles at the launch of Battlefield 2042, but we are still investigating the various options about making that available, and how it may impact cross-play. If that ever changes, you’ll hear it from us first."
So it's not entirely sure that it won't come at all!

@OskooI_007XIM/Cronus/Titan will not work with PS5 (confirmed on their forums), but will probably work with Xbox X. Last gen consoles will work with emulators, but you are stuck with 64 players. As you previously mentioned, XIM will work with Remote Play on PS5, but I suspect lag will be an issue on FPS.
A lot of this will be cleared up once the Beta launches, and people have a chance to experiment.

@Lancelot_du_Lac For remote play you'll definitely want both the remote play device and the ps5 wired to the same gigabit ethernet switch. Plus using the TV the ps5 is hooked up to view video and not the remote play video stream feed because it's laggier than using the TV the ps5 is hooked up to instead.
The only thing remote play is being used for is to send controller inputs over ethernet to the ps5. The video stream isn't being used for anything.
And wired gigabit ethernet switches have sub 1ms ping times, but I suspect the remote play app adds a few ms delay.
Definitely not ideal but I hear there's a couple fixes in the works that will solve the 3rd party controller problem on ps5 making remote play no longer necessary. Some of them might even be out by the end of this year.
I know you are not implementing m&kb support for consoles at launch and are trying to work out a idea around it.
My first solution would be to have the device input choice enabled only when in cross play, and if you decide to turn cross play off on consoles take away the option to choose you device input and force it controller.
Second solution is to do what Actision did with warzone. Just crank up the aim assist to compete with m&kb. Seems to work well with them and I can't remember the last time I heard someone complaining about m&kb being unfair on that game.
I really hope this doesn't get brushed under the rug.
@GetBangedOnNubI do not think anyone, including EA DICE, is planning on this getting "...brushed under the rug."
They have pretty clearly said that this will not be implemented on launch, but I think just about everyone here believes it can and will be done in the near future.
Rather, they are choosing not to implement this on launch... so the reasoning must be pretty good to willingly drop a popular feature that they have reportedly considered supporting going back to Bad Company 2...When did they support it in a battlefield game on consoles. Because bf4, bf1, bf5 don't have the option on consoles.
I should have been more clear, my apologies.
EA DICE have considered bringing KBM support into the Battlefield series for consoles going back to Bad Company 2, however they never pulled the trigger on official support. There have been workarounds, but nothing officially supported.

As such, I feel confident in stating that they can certainly do it, but are still choosing not to for whatever reason(s)...I have edited my previous post to be more clear and accurate, thank you.
It’s incredibly annoying to announce 1 month before release that console players won’t get this feature.
Mainly because it was promised. ITS NOT FAIR.Why is it so hard to put an option in the game that whoever wants to turn off crossplay and it only plays with a controller.
I have a lot of friends who can’t play an FPS game with a controller and play on a console.
It’s incredibly annoying to be dragging the community apart now.
I’m already thinking about asking for a refund as a PC player because I won’t play alone.

It won't be supported at launch, but they'll still work on it to make it available.
Probably trying to create it in a balanced way to fit for everyone, since some casual players on a Console just don't like fighting others on the same platform using M&K.
