- ChrisAWJBethel5 years agoSeasoned Ace@Trokey66 OK, that was a bad example, but my point that 'Don't like, don't read/watch/buy' is a sign of arrogance still stands. Every multiplayer ought to have some form of offline play to keep the game alive so people can keep playing it. Day after day I see comments all over the Internet about how people wish to return to the old days of Battlefield where they could play against the offline bots. Battlefield has had this problem for FIFTEEN years. It's time for a change of pace, and 'don't like, don't buy' isn't gonna help anyone.
- @ChrisAWJBethel In regards to FPS games, PC will always be superior. In terms of RPGs, I will happily admit that Playstation has some of the best titles in the market. I will also admit that I'm not going to listen to your points because you can go to Walmart right this instance and buy a $300 dollar laptop with 500gb of space on it that can run most games out right now on low settings and play at a better FPS rate than a console can, giving you the better edge needed to compete. That's also more readily available than a console. Cheaper too.
I'm also genuinely aware that hackers and cheaters are present in every game, multiplayer and single player. I don't think about it. I put up with it and move on like an adult and don't whine about it. You are also right that graphics don't make the game. However, Battlefield and their Frostbite engine, the graphics do make the game. It's the reason buildings can collapse, explosions can cause holes, vehicles to structurally fall apart when shot, etc. etc. The Frostbite engine is also a major reason Battlefield's sound is so good and why it sounds so realistic when you don't hear a tank firing until the shell is already about to impact by you.
You're paying for the engine and the brand. You're not necessarily paying for the game itself. Those of us preordering or already have preordered, know this. And my comment you quoted being "selfish and egotistical," isn't in regards to being "only a PC gamer" saying that. All gaming companies do that when it's meant to be played as mainly a multiplayer game and not single player. It's done making money. It's the same concept as it's cheaper to tear down a run down building and rebuild it than to renovate it. Battlefield is a "Game As Service". Meaning no offline usage. So don't get your hopes up.

Just a gentle reminder that no one really knows about offline play yet, so there is no need to get hot under the collar over this topic... yet.

@ChrisAWJBethelbut do developers feel that the demand for such a feature is worth the expense and effort required to implement it?
Just because you and a few others think it should be the case and damn anyone else is almost text book arrogance.
In a game that is marketed as an online multiplayer, I would suggest that the vast majority of players will be at best ambivilant to such a mode. Indeed, no small number would be against such as they will no doubt feel it took valuable recourses away from the main aspect of multiplayer.
Me? I ambivilant but if I didn't like the majority of the package, I wouldn't buy it.
OP and you have the same choice. - @ChrisAWJBethel I agree, every game must have an offline mode. Since without it, it is no longer considered a purchase of a game, but a rent.
- @Trokey66 Every game must have an offline mode with bots. Because when you buy a game you must be guaranteed that you can play it for a long time at least with bots. Without offline mode, you can only rent the game.
- @Trokey66 I'm wondering what is stopping you with offline mode? What are your complaints about this? If you want to play online then play. But everyone needs not only an online mode, but also an offline one. Since not many have a good Internet connection or in different cases.
- @carsono311 I agree with you.
- @Rev0verDrive Battlefield was famous not only for online. In 1999 he was famous for the first game Codename Eagle which was considered to be Battlefield 1942 after which they created Battlefield 1942 with a couple of parts reworked. Battlefield was famous for offline mode, as it was the first game in which the game could be played offline while simulating online.
