@Adamonic I don't think that is correct, the 20s cooldown was per grenade.
For the grenade spam scenario the number of grenades thrown is the same. In the spam scenario you throw an additionally grenade from minute 2 forward
2 with 20sec cooldown: 1, 5, 21, 41, 61
1 with 15 sec cooldown: 1, 16, 31, 46, 61
And I think in addition they reduced the damage of the grenades.
I tried to get assists with the new grenade setup, and I got 2 strange kills and 12 assists in three Breakthrough matches, on the launch BF2042 maps, which is okayish.
But now the Shatter Grenade is just another grenade, and I guess it is sub par to the plain Frag Grenade everyone can use.
And the Anti-Armor grenade is pretty pointless if I don't need to bother with a second grenade on a vehicle anymore. Because even with a damaged engine, 15s are enough time to get out of throwing range.

@kregora good catch. The only benefit was the initial barrage and quicker 3rd grenade. For long term it looks like shorter cool down is actually better?

@Adamonic I think its worse than that. Because of the time it takes to throw the grenade. Especially if you hold it for positioning. The cooldown for the 2nd grenade (when we had it) already started before the throw. Now without a second one in the queue, the cooldown only starts after the throw of the single grenade.
- kregora4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Adamonic If I had the choice, I would like to have the two grenades with the higher cool down back. Now the gadget slot kinda feels wasted.
Now the grenade takes up a gadget slot for something more useful, like C5 - isn't shot down by Irish APS, has a huge blast radius, and I think it does more damage than the Shatter Grenade ever did, without danger marker and a long fuse time.
And since the Anti-Armor grenade locks on Caspars Drone and Boris Turrets and Spawn Beacons, it usability against vehicles became very questionable.
