Low player count
As of this moment, there are ~4.8k people playing this either altogether or through Steam alone
This game came out like 3 months ago and it's already at this low of a level

- We can't enter, the problem is not with the players.
South America & APAC players on steam forums (just tonight too) reporting they cant find a game at all - period. Kicked back to main menu.
Server browers being "legacy" have destroyed the ability of countless to play this bricked 100$ software they have installed on their machines. It's beyond agitating we've never been scammed harder. Then there's the whole "live service" thing. What? When is season 1?
I live in Europe and tried playing yesterday evening after over a month of absence. Noticed an unusually high amount of bots. Checked the server - 38 vs 42, next game - 25 vs 30, another one - 34 vs 38. And this in on CQ 128 players with crossplay. Insane.

Now those numbers definitely worry me, things have definitely deteriorated considerably in the last week haven't they. ?

Yaa its crazy. I'm playing BF1 and BFV on PC, and there are really many full servers. You can hardly feel that a new BF has been released.
Will there be players left when this game is fixed?...i wonder.

New content will probably get a lot players back, whether they will stay is another story...
- @cso7777 Season 1 summer release for content is too far in the future to keep enough players round without having the dreaded "Waiting for Players" death spiral.
Making Portal Free to Play would add player immediately, and then some of those players might buy the game to play the base modes.
Even official TDM in Portal is "Waiting for Players" in the US late at night and it is only a 16x16 game mode. The numbers are so low you run across the same players constantly, and it now groups players across multiple time zones as the ping/latency has increased late at night abut 40% versus playing during the day.
Dice needs to get EA to allow some massive BF 2042 upgrades this month as "Summer 2022" is waaaaay too late.
The 1,000 to 3,000 players left by then won't be enough to keep this game alive and/or profitable...
