Match making broken?

how and why in the hell do we end up getting put together in matches with the same hacks, and trash talkers? Seriously, out of the how many thousands of players? And two different versions of 2042? It’s pretty ridiculous when you get players calling you out by your gamertag in the chat, from right out the get.

anyone have any logical explanation for this? Cause bf1 was pretty balanced but after that it just went down the hill.

  • My first reaction was towards this sentence from your opening post: "Seriously, out of the how many thousands of players?" That's where I think you were overestimating. I think the number of players is not that high anymore today. Which leads to only 1 server, if lucky 2, being populated and thus ending up with the same players match after match.
Even if there's thousands of players, these are spread out between several regions, and on top of that 5 different platforms, and then there's crossplay on/off to make a further segregation. Add to that the different featured game modes (I counted 10 this week alone, not even taking non-featured portal modes into account), and it's becoming easy to spread thin thousands of players.

I see the same thing happening here. If I go on CQ64 I mainly encounter the familiar names. The weekly event game modes tend to be more populated with new players, but these are not the type of players that stick with the game for long. Especially if these new players venture out to CQ64 and are being confronted with those high level frequent players.

Yep that’s always a last resort. I find that the bot maps are satisfying but that only lasts so long when there’s nothing to crank out anymore or nothing you need to do counts in portal custom maps. Or at least to an extent. But problem is that 3/4 of the nightly clan doesn’t do bot maps unless they want to unlock things for a gun.

Xbox one small map version. Even with cross play on, we do tend to struggle with finding enough players to start something. Without that on, yeah there won’t be hardly anyone on period. No way we can over estimate there when the proof is in the pudding; we’re well aware there’s not a lot of players and that’s why we always end up getting stuck with the same seriously questionable players. We even have a couple of Australian friends who play best on their side of the servers but once they get in ours their ping is so high they can do anything. It’s the opposite for me, yeah ping might be high but it’s somehow still manageable. And their fan base is very limited there; they’ve told us countless times and lost interest as a result.

Oh our squad can take the colorful words. We tend to dish it right back by getting real creative. Besides, even if they do end up in our squad next game, which is pretty rare, we just lock the squad and remove. More often than not we kick players out for clearly not playing as a team and leaving us hanging or simply not even bothering to assist. the real funny thing is, any one of us can leave the game, and find a new random game available, and still end up back in the same game or with the same clan or players with bad rep. Might only be good for one match, but then they end up back in the same server as us or vice versa. Sure is convincing enough that there’s no real way out. How is there really so many players when more often than not we’re struggling to even find enough players to actually do something? It wouldn’t matter if it’s a new game mode of the week. Sure seems like it’s the other way around. reporting does nothing. It’s all automated based through a cheap filtration system; and you may not be notified until a week later that the player reported got off Scott free; for doing things that we can’t do, with the same gun, making the character move unrealistically fast or high, shooting through walls on foot, so on and so forth. Every single time I ever have reported, nothing is done about it. Could be someone shooting other players from inside a wall breach, which still persists to this day, even after the multiple attempts to patch those, it still happens. Nothing is done about it.

Chris_Hawkner makes a good point, if it  is about the trash talking, that’s easy block the player and you won’t see their text chats. You’ll neither will hear any voice chats if they have their mic open and they happen to end up in your squad.

  • Lot of people queue for lots of different modes, and the nature of BF having high player counts per server means you're always gonna have back to back games with people. Honestly best way to avoid folks you dont like is just tap out and requeue imo. If it's trash talk mute or whatever and cheaters just report and move on.

  • There is no SBMM or anything alike, all players are send to the same lobby if they search for a game at similar times.

also i´ve noticed when switching lobbies that there is no players to fill the minimum 16 for the start of the match so my theory is that there is so little people playing that is the same lobby over and over again.

you can also try out portal, unlike EA´s anticheat admins dont allow hackers and if you find the rigth one you will find one where toxicity is also not allowed.

and if you dont find one you like you can make your own, which the difficult part would being populating the server itself

Definitely not true. There’s still a chance that by the next match, we will end up back together.

  • What platform and which region are you on? And do you play with crossplay on or off?

I think you're overestimating the number of players. In EU on PS5 with crossplay off the playerbase has shrunk to the level that depending on time of day and game mode it's getting hard to get matches going as the threshold of minimum players to start a match is not reached.

  • I heard there's a trick to get matchmaking to put you in a different server. You have to back out past the lobby screen, all the way to the main menu.

Supposedly that will put you in a different server. I'm not sure if it's true or not.
