MAV is far too strong vs MBT

Why is it that a MAV, meant as a transport vehicle, can decimate an MBT in a 1 on 1 engagement? Even with just one person firing the 50mm from the MAV and the tank using its APS to buy a little time, the MAV will usually win. Whilst the tank shells seem to merely tickle the MAV's armour.

  • @SlipperyLiz4rd I think it's safe to say that transport vehicles in 2042 have always had more firepower than they should have.

Instead of those WMDs, they should Smoke Cannons, SOFLAM modules and simple HMGs, AA Flak pods perhaps even EMP modules. But not 50mm Cannons and their entire arsenal of weaponry. This applies to air transport as well. I hope the next Battlefield does something like this instead of what they did in 2042. It's good that they're way more tanky than previous Battlefields but it's bad that they have so much firepower.
  • @SlipperyLiz4rd Heavy attack vehicles in general have been total trash in this game.

MBTs got the short stick with the majority of their defensive and offensive customization gone.

They don't get secondary AP / HE / Canister ammo. It took Dice over a year to add APS. There is no thermal/FLIR optics for main driver. There is blow out panels that we had in BF4 that would eat a single shot without taking any damage from each direction.

    Its sad really

I highly doubt that an MBT with standard shells will lose a 1vs1 duel with a MAV.

If both of the vehicles have all their seats full and are equipped with anti vehicle stations, the MBT will still win.

    MAV: 50mm autocanno + mortar

MBT: AP shell + ToW + Mortar.

    No contest.

  • @SlipperyLiz4rdWhat type of shell do you have equiped on your MBT's? If it is the HEAT shell than @UP_Hawxxeye has a good point. The HEAT shell is great for farming infantry and will also deal with light skinned vehicles quickly enough, but anything with armor requires armor piercing shell such as the default MPAT.

@RanzigeRidder2 It was actually the MPAT shell or whatever they call it now when I made this observation. I don't know what was going on to be honest, a direct hit on the MAV would take maybe 20% if that of the health off. I've since tested this and much more damage was dealt. Maybe a netcode issue or something else, but either way this inconsistency is worrying. It isn't like vehicles have weak spots on BF2042 like they used to on earlier Battlefield titles (or do they?)
