Nerf Drone Spotting XP

Why?

People are farming XP like crazy just flying their Drones around and spotting people the whole game.

How?

Because you get 5 XP for every single enemy spotted + 50 XP for every spotted enemy that gets killed. The same amount of XP for a kill by just spotting them.

So every 10 enemies spotted is 1 kill and if you're constantly spotting people all around you'll get like 1-2 kill assist every 10-15 spotted enemies.

Also spotted enemies reset after a few seconds when you look away. So just fly in circles and spot the same group of enemies again every few seconds.

At the end of a round you have anything in between 70 - 150 spotting assists or "kills" + the extra XP from spotting and ribbons.

That way you can get guaranteed 15.000 - 35.000 XP each game for just flying around looking at people. Nothing more.

It's getting annoying seeing more and more people doing it just laying prone around the map flying their drones instead of PTFO.

Solution

Nerf the spotting assist XP to 25 and either increase the re-spotting cooldown or lower spotting XP to 3.

Oh look, yet another nerf thread!

You do know that there is an achievement to get 200 spots in a round don't you?

Once most people get that they will start using them for what they are designed for....C5! ☺🤣

I think they don't need to Nerf Drone Spotting XP.

They need to add more Assist XP & add Suppressing Assist XP.

When you use RPG to shoot a tank just got 10 XP, it's too unprofitable!

  • So I just tried it...

Had a match where I got 78 spot assists, and I don't know how many spots... Got 20k XP.

But also had a few matches where I only got ~40 spot assists and got around 11k XP both those matches.

Doesn't seem insanely unreasonable. I avg. about 15k XP per match just playing normally (And I'm pretty bad at this game)

My conclusion: If you're really really bad, sure it can help you rank up, but if you're actually good at BF, I think it's worse XP than playing the game normally.

  • @l8008l Is it annoying because you feel you get no benefit from the spotting? Or because others are not playing the game like the way you think it should be played?

@TrasteTh Again the spotting itself is not the issue. I think spotting gets rewarded just a little too much in terms of XP and should be slightly turned down like giving assist kills 25 instead of 50 XP. I see way too many people each game flying around with drones to farm XP and nothing else. Ofc it gets annoying that 1/5 of the team is just doing mindless farming.

@l8008l Fair enough, though they could probably argue the opposite, that the run and shoot guys are farming and should only get 25. :D

Here is a better solution, let people go back to grinding to their hearts content in solo and this way only the people who just want to win will play multiplayer.

the game already had a rather sad start, why do you want to make it even sadder

@UP_Hawxxeye I'm all for it. Right now Drone spotting is not seen as what it should be rather than a farming alternative which is annoying as hell. Multiplayer should be about playing the objective, having fun and unlocking stuff. Not a farming simulator.
  • As someone that uses drones and sniping kits, I have to disagree with you.

Why? Drones are vital to the battlefield, considering that we are lacking uavs. in past bf games, we had uavs and such to determine where people were camping and what was in the area. thats really not the case anymore, so nerfing drones isnt a solution.

as for the xp issue that your talking about, its also not logical to nerf it based upon that. the sniper kit in its current state has a ton of problems. for example, the scopes on it are bugged, the 6x,8x and so on dont stay in those zoomed scopes. you have to switch between attachments in order to get the rifle to work normally again. thus making it difficult to even snipe or even stay alive. so its in current state, snipers wouldnt be able to gain any xp at all because of the scope bugs via in their kits.

also, when your talking about gaining xp.. helis gain a butt load of xp while flying and killing targets. ive seen players fly around the entire game, without hardly ever dieing. they kill a ton of people that end up giving them x xp.  so when we are looking at nerfing something, we should be focused on fixing prior issues before making classes nearly unplayable.

oh and I dont get 15k xp every round, more or less 10k.
