Positive Play Charter

Hi All,

Just here to ask, who actually moderates this in-game and what is considered positive...

I recently got a ban for 197 hours for :

Get a Job you Bum

Which was ultimately taken out of context, it was aimed at a sweaty, skilled player and we were having banter during a few rounds about how good they were and how they kept creaming the team and rolling the rounds.

I could accept the ban, if I thought my comment was malicious.... it was neither hateful, profanity nor harmful in context, yet I see no other reason for the ban on those words either when taken out of context like they were.

I also find it strange that this afternoon I was told by a Chinese (they identified themselves and mentioned Hong Kong servers) player that whites are so arrogant, and are called pigs and well you get the rest. Yet this player is still online, and to my knowledge getting away with racism.  I made jokes towards a sweat lord who is rank S400 or something like that and I get a ban, yet this racist is allowed to continue down the path of wishing for the death of all white people.

It doesn't make sense, the last time I checked China is Caucasian - the clue is in the title of the group Cauc-ASIAN so why so much hate online towards other white people, nations?

  • Was the comment made through in-game text chat, voice chat, or personal message?

  • Hi NizBotIO,

I totally get that the ban seems like harsh, but unfortunately this can happen when using chat, so you need to be careful that what you're saying won't be seen as harassment and so on. Chat is monitored in this game and other players could potentially report you as well.

However, to answer your question, all actions under the Charter are handled by the Terms of Service team. They're also the people who you would contact if you want to appeal the ban. If you haven't appealed already, the guide below has a link that will let you contact them:

    https://help.ea.com/uk/help/account/information-about-locked-or-banned-or-suspended-accounts/

Moreover, if you feel that another player is not behaving correctly, you can report them either in-game or through EA Help:

    https://help.ea.com/uk/help/faq/report-players-for-cheating-abuse-and-harassment/

I have just lost an appeal against a ban for cheating (I don't cheat never have)

I am 99% confident that no actual person deals with bans as there is no chance someone looked at my gameplay nor my stats and refused my appeal.  If they aren't paying people to look at permanent bans they certainly aren't paying people to deal with in game text chat.

It will be garbage poorly implemented Ai.

Going on what has been said in the past by EA staff, the ToS team don't use bots or AI for reviews, so all of them are carried out by a human.

ElliotLH  judging by the amount of recent topics on (wrongful or not) bans and the feedback people get on their appeals I highly question if this is still all reviewed by humans.

OT NizBotIO I would not take offense at what you wrote, but I can imagine other people could, and as said by ElliotLH it could also be another player (other than the one you had the banter with) that reported you.

That could potentially be the case now, and the info CMs have given out is no longer accurate. Unfortunately, though, unless it's specifically stated otherwise, that's all we really have to go on at the moment.  As a counterpoint, it could also be that there just aren't enough people in the department to conduct thorough reviews, so they just send a decline after a very brief, high-level review.

So I'm assuming we are left in a "Algorithm says no" loop. Remember A.I is only as smart as the person that coded it, and lets be honest, you have to question so much with the modern implementations and infancy of both applications, coders etc.

ElliotLH  Sounds legit, however in the case of not enough people in the department to review that would indicate a recent change in that department given the sudden influx of people coming to these boards to complain about bans. It's not like the player population  is suddenly growing for a game this old I assume.
Or else something has been changed recently in the anti-cheat detection causing an increase in the number of bans.

To me it's clear something has changed, I just don't know what.

  • EA has released more information on their anticheat. They've renamed it to Javelin and claim their bans are 99% accurate, which I don't believe.

    https://www.ea.com/news/introducing-ea-javelin-anticheat

At the bottom if the webpage there's two links that explain the review process for cheat bans, text chat bans, and voice chat bans. It explains when humans decide the ban and when AI decides the ban. For voice chat a human always listens to the voice recordings and EA records everything you say and type.

I'll never trust or believe that any anticheat is stopping cheaters. I've been online PC gaming since the 1990's and I've always seen cheaters in online games. The amount of cheaters has only increased and gotten worse as time goes on.

Gaming on PlayStation with PC crossplay turned off is currently the best way to play online games with the least amount of cheaters. Unfortunately Xbox makes it difficult to turn PC crossplay off compared to PlayStation.

    Sadly I can't believe this.
Not only did I get a canned response I also received a permanent ban without being told what actual cheating I had been accused and somehow found guilty of.
No one looked.  Simple as that.
Unless you are a Youtuber/Twitch streamer etc you will never have your account reinstated as no person will actually look.
It is a con given it was a full priced game.
Imagine buying anything else where they could remove access without so much as providing evidence !
